Ok... So I went on this Bachelor party that consisted of me and a group of friends bar-hopping to local bars int he downtown area. One of the stops was at a new bar called Graphitti. Next door to this par happens to be one of the best pizza slices I ever had. I tried the peperoni and the fiery Hawaiian which was a Hawaiian Pizza with Jalapenos, both were pretty dang tasty. They are open til 3am on weekends so if you need a Late Night Slice, hit up this Joint!

You know, I promised myself I wasn't gonna be one of *those* people who write a Yelp review saying "I came from X place and didn't expect any good Y in Utah". But no, this place has freakin amazing pizza. Now I have to say that I grew up in New York and didn't expect any good pizza in Utah and I WAS WRONG. Seriously though. Good cheap tasty pizza that reminding me of the Brooklyn I grew up in, and cute bearded guys serving up vegan options reminding me of the Brooklyn I no longer recognize. Hell, I'm not even into beards. Only compliant: they don't have garlic powder for me to load on to my slice. But then again I didn't need the garlic for their pies to taste good. Also the bottle of Jones soda they sold me had a cat on it. That's always a plus.

I've gone around telling people about my first Pie Hole experience for the last 12 months. I got a takeout Pretty Pretty Princess and it blew me away. I had brain matter on the wall next to me when I finished. I hugging loved it. Today's by-the-slice experience made me a little sad. I had the potato bacon, my lady-friend had the veggie combo, and my boy took a piece of white sauce with olives and spinach. What really depressed me, made me rethink my life choices, was the amount of topping. My son had 6 olive slices, and 2 spinach leaves. I had 2 potato chunks and 2 patches of crumbled bacon. Not good enough. 3 slices was $9. I left depressed. My crush ended, the day had turned dark.

It's just not good. The place has character, which gives you the feeling that you're going to get a cheap good tasting piece of pizza but you don't. It left me feeling cheated after seeing 4 stars. I get it the place has its following, but apparently they like bad pizza!! The pizza is dry and bland. I tried 3 different pizzas and the taste between all 3 was hardly discernible. After leaving I realized pizza by the slice at Sabarros is better.

A gross and expensive mistake. I never had the desire to go to this place before but then I saw the reviews on Yelp and went against my better judgment. To sum into a few words: a highly overpriced grease bomb in a trashy dive staffed by hipsters. Perhaps many like it due to the late hours in a city that otherwise has nothing else open late. Food: Pretty Pretty Princess: generous portions of meat are welcome at first, but then the greasiness overwhelms you. Potato Bacon: like eating overseasoned scallop potatoes. The first bite is novel and then it's downhill from there. Thai chicken: it's different ...novel. But the novelty wears off fast. Thai Vegan: very strong taste, but not a good taste Very expensive and would've been more satisfied with something from the frozen food section of Costco and would've paid much less. Wish I would've just gone to Maxwells for the spinach ricotta pepperoni to satisfy my NY style thin crust pizza urge. Perhaps if it's 1:30 AM and you're drunk out of your mind and nothing else is open then you may not notice that this is overpriced blah food. WASTE of money. Had it not been so expensive, I'd give it 2 stars.

This is one of my favorite places to eat downtown. Thin crust, large slices that are relatively inexpensive. I love the variety in toppings and the total hole-in-the-wall atmosphere. Hit them on Monday for the $5 lunch special and Wednesday for a slice of the Bird Dog: Chicken, bacon, red peppers, garlic, cilantro... It just doesn't get much better.

Oh my goodness. I'm officially old. This is where the punkier kids like to hang out. Maybe the drama kids too. While I was there, a high school kid shrieks and jumps onto another one. It wasn't said, but all I could hear was "Look at me! I took 2 hrs to get ready and look like I don't care--but I do." The pizza was salty. Cheese didn't seem real. I did like the fact, there was variety. I did like that Pie Hole, didn't care to be more than it is. Cheap interesting eats for the younger crowd who wants to escape the suffocating "prettiness" of SLC.

If you love thin crust pizza and want to be a hipster, then THIS is the place for you! Having said that, the drinks were cheap (including local craft beers) and the pizza varieties were inventive and delicious. I'd go back if I wanted a cheap slice and I was walking around downtown. The setting is dark, and feels a little dirty but again - this is Hipster Hole os it's all part of the vibe. Definitely worth a visit as an SLC insitution!

I went last nighy and it was very good pizza and the staff was easy to communicate with. I got a slice of cheese pizza and an Alfred Hitchcock and they were both very good. Good price for a slice. They were the only place open until three that I could find and the line was down the street. The people making the pizza were standing in front of the window so we could watch them throw the dough so it proved to be entertaining also. I highly recommend.

Love how their vegan pizza isn't just like a regular pizza with vegan cheese on it (hate that stuff!),they actually put an effort into making the "totally veegs" totally awesome and unique. Haven't tried the vegan Thai option yet, but I hear it's the bomb. Vegan or not, this is the place get your vintage arcade and pizza fix when you've had enough of the bars, because you're never lonely with pizza and friends. :)

This place is my new favorite pizza joint in Salt Lake. They have great vegetarian and vegan pie specials every day, and serve it up with good, and many local microbrews. There are pinball machines in back, and in general there's a good vibe of grunge throughout. If you can't find spices, ask at the counter. Sometimes they have to put them up because people steal them. If you're in Salt Lake, and like a dive pizza joint hole-in-the-wall, Pie Hole is your place.

I was hoping Pie Hole delivered slices, but when they told me they didn't, I opted for a 19 inch pie. I told the pleasant girl on the phone I originally wanted pepperoni slices and cheese garlic bread. So what did she recommend? Splitting the pepperoni pizza and cheese garlic bread to make a 19 inch pie. Brilliant. Both had thin crust, yet they weren't floppy. A little greasy, but the toppings weren't slipping off. As for the wing sauce, I have no idea what the ingredients were, but it was delicious! For someone like me surrounded by good pizza in Jersey, I am really impressed by this place. I highly recommend Pie Hole if you're looking for good pizza delivered in downtown SLC. As far as I could tell, they were one of the few pizza delivery options in town. And reliable. They told me 1 hour and they were knocking on my door 55 minutes from the time I ordered. To the owners with engineering degrees: Stay in the pizza business!

You can never go wrong coming to the Pie Hole after a long night of bar hopping. They always have a huge selection of slices to enjoy. And they always get super creative with their ideas for topping. This particular trip in they had a taco slice. It was one of the best slices I have ever had. It had chorizo, olives and great cheese. And you will never be able to beat the prices. From 2 dollar to 3 dollars tops on all slices. And the beer prices are great as well for bottles or cans. I cannot wait for my next trip in to see what other great ideas they have thought of. Oh yeah and did I mention they have 3 pinball machines along with some other arcade machines. And don't let the line ever deter you from stopping in. It moves really fast and is worth the wait. Read the sign outside to know what the specials are before heading in. It will save you some time when choosing what you want. And oh yeah, they are open till 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

If you're coming here looking for gourmet pizza, turn around, go back the way you came. If you're looking for a dive pizza place with delicious by-the-slice pizza, then step forward and order yourself some bizzarely-named tastiness, my friend! Admittedly, I've only ever come when I was tipsy (why else would a south-valley girl be wandering around downtown??) but it's always been fast and friendly service, and pizza that met my needs, and what more can you ask from a dive pizza place? My sense of direction is abysmal, so it's like a special treat every time I end up wandering by this place in the middle of the night and being like, "Pie Hole! Tasty pizza! My night just got 70% better!"

We were looking for a place to grab a bite late at night, and we found this place. The pizza was great, there was lots of variety and lots of vegetarian/vegan options, and the atmosphere suited SLC perfectly. The pizza is real New York thin crust pizza with unique ingredients like potato bacon and vegan pizza with hummus instead of tomato sauce. The Pie Hole specializes in local craft beer, which was interesting. We enjoyed our late night pizza and would definitely recommend it!

One of my go-to places in SLC, especially at night when everywhere else has closed. The pizza is always delicious, the atmosphere is always chill, and the employees are always super friendly. Nothing beats coming out of a concert at Urban Lounge, walking down to Pie Hole, ordering a couple slices and a $1 PBR, and playing a few games of pinball. By the way, if you haven't tried their Thai Pizza on Tuesdays, DO IT.

I know it's the hip thing but I do genuinely like it on my pizza. Also the topper is they have a few pinball machines in the back! Pinball and pizza.

This is the BEST place to get pizza! Whether you appreciate the flavor, the cost, or the warm attitudes from all the people that work there, you will leave happy and wanting to go back. My co-workers and I have known about Pie Hole for a little over a month and we have had it at least once a week. We have tried various pies, but the best ones that I would recommend are the Bird Dog or the Pretty, Pretty Princess. I haven't had any pizza that I wasn't happy with and really I have enjoyed just chatting a little bit with the awesome staff! Pie Hole is literally the best place to get a pizza. The only downside (which isn't bad if you're a planner) is that it sometimes can take awhile for your pizza around lunch time. Call ahead, or have them deliver if you're close! You will be happy you tried it!

This is easily one of the top "by the slice" pizza places in Salt Lake. As others have mentioned, the Potato Bacon is phenomenal. Depending on their slice of the day, you're in for a treat as well. The pizza isn't too greasy or cheesy like some other more popular SLC pizza places, and the slices are a good size for the price. The atmosphere is nice and laid back with pinball and arcade games around the restaurant to play. They are open until at least 2am every night as well, not something that many other restaurants around downtown can boast. Basically, when I'm up late and need a quick pizza fix, I go here.

It was weird. The hot dog woman just arrived outside the door. Apparently she wraps them in BACON. Still, I'd rather have a slice of pizza. A guy just asked me if I was a girl that was at Twist. I was not. Let's see how this pizza is. The pizza was yummmmmmmyyyyy.

This is a pretty good place. Very dingy inside, but a nice space for people watching, and a great place to swing in late night if you have a pizza craving. They usually have an eclectic selection, and are pretty good at making some awesome combinations. Price wise, it's pretty damn cheap too. This hole-in-the-wall type setup actually has quite a bit going for it. The pizza isn't out of this world, can't get enough, satisfying. BUT, it really hits the spot if you want something that's not only fast and cheap but tastes bomb.

This pizza joint reminds me of La Monica's in UCLA. Super divey, pre-made, thin slice, cheap, pizza slices that are perfect for late night eats. Friendly staff. I was lame and got a boring (but tasty) sausage and onion pizza. Next time I will check out the creative stuff. And of course, get some beer with your pizza!

Great pizza by the slice, and pretty spicy! I had the potato bacon and the ninja slice with the jalapeÃ±o and pineapple. These were both very spicy in fact. Outside the logo looks like Pac-Man, Atari throw back themed. Inside lots of graffiti stickers, wobbly tables, lots of flies buzzing around on that October day, and a ranting homeless guy copping an attitude with one of the girls behind the counter as he insisted their business was "going down" (going out of business). The bathroom was completely covered in graffiti, nowhere for me to write any of my own! Go here, it's good!

While my love of Pie Hole is mostly for how well it satisfies a late night, drunken craving for a slice and a Pabst Blue Ribbon, I am now a fan of their delivery. Sitting on the recliner on a recent Sunday night, wrapped in a big blanket, watching Netflix, petting my cat, with my bottle of Sailor Jerry standing stalwart, true, and at the ready on the side table, I realized I really, really wanted a pizza. On a whim, I googled Pie Hole, forgoing my standard pizza delivery options such as The Pie and Wasatch Pizza. I ordered a 19' pepperoni, anchovy, and onion pie. Quick and friendly delivery. This pie was giant. A freakin' hubcap. But with a tasty, thin ,and crispy crust, not too much cheese, and reasonable amounts of toppings (I added oregano and some hot pepper flakes), i was able to eat the whole damn thing. Over the course of four hours, but nonetheless, a lot 'za. It was a Man vs. Food situation. Man won. The Pie Hole rocks.

This is the thinnest, flattest, most potatoey pizza I've ever had. And the name is, well, the most interesting I've seen for a pizza company in a while. I had the potato bacon, the pepperoni, and the taco. I liked them all, but I don't know how much (skimpy on the toppings and sauce; heavy on the cheese). Let me just say if you want super thin and super wide slices of pizza, especially late at night, have at it. If you ever thought "gee, I think potato and pizza go very well together," be my guest. And if you thought "shut your pie hole!" was actually an invitation to stuff it with NY style pizza, then, well, you know where to go.

I was very pleased with the Pie Hole. We orders their garlic cheese bread which was seasoned with fresh garlic, very tasty. We order a large pepperoni pie and a large half potato and bacon and the Ninja. I liked the Ninja personnel, it's topped with fresh jalapeÃ±o's, pepperoni and pineapple. Overall good sauce, great crust they good use a higher quality mozzarella but it's worth the drop in. They keep a ton of slices ready and then the heat them up when you order in their oven and it's quick delicious pizza.

A greasy nightmare.. First off,I read other reviews saying this is NY style pizza...Bullshit..Not even close..Anyone who says it is has never had a slice in NY. I'm from Brooklyn and I have very low pizza and Chinese food expectations here in Salt Lake. .Places like the Pie Hole are why.. For starters, this was probably the greasiest pizza I've ever had in my life..I mean, I was pretty sure it had been soaking in Wesson oil for several hours before they peeled it from the stack of slices (wtf is that about?) and chucked it in the oven.. When I got my order the grease was puddled on top of the pizza..I had to use about 5 napkins to soak up the grease..It was kinda gross really..The grease had soaked completely through the slices and even after doing a preliminary oil spill cleanup ,it was like chewing on a sponge soaked in grease..Not just any grease either..I'm talking nasty,dirty grease..The bottom of the slice was soaked in a dirty ,oily black grease that made it look like it had been smeared on the floor of a Jiffy Lube.. To sum it up, the only thing even vaguely NY about this place is that the slices are thin crust and they use a Bakers Pride oven..They'd get their lips smacked off for serving this enedible shit in Brooklyn.. The atmosphere is a mix of drunk snow bros,hipster douchebags and assorted college kids.The staff is friendly enough but look like they could use a shower.. It may work in a pinch if you are completely hammered and aren't particularly picky about what you'll eat.. Me,I'd rather lick a catbox or just swill vegetable oil straight of a bottle than fuck with this place again.. Try Este on 200 South if you're looking for N.Y. style pizza..While they can be real hit and miss at times,it sure beats thd hell out the Pie Hole.

Yummm!! This place is funky. Definitely casual. There are stickers all over everything, but in a cool way. The employees are nice. Just check out their pizzas on display & choose by the slice. They write the pizza toppings on a display board above. Or I suppose you could order a whole pizza. The pizza is really really tasty. Full of flavor. The crust is also good. Nothing even close to tasting like cardboard. I ordered the cheese pizza with tomato sauce & another slice with garlic & oil & cheese. I believe it was called Gandalf the White. Both were great! No complaints. So if you need a quick meal without any hassle, this is the restaurant for you. I'd go back for sure.

I've updated my stars, from 3 to 4. The reason for this... Selection. I drink a lot in the downtown area and I became addicted to their damned potato bacon pizza. Aside from the regular staple options there is an ever-changing menu. Today I got a slice of PB and some porker slice. It's got BBQ, mango, pulled pork, jalapeÃ±os, etc. It's tasty, not my favorite but I love that they are always toying with new combinations. So up goes the stars. Thanks guys for making every trip a new adventure of flavor. Not a bad little dive, they have a small a small corral out on the sidewalk where you can drink and obtain cancer whilst you wait for your slices, and they will bring them out. I ordered a slice of "Sunny G." and a slice of "Potato Bacon" both were good. The crust was thin - which I prefer, not to mention better when drinking beer. Another upside is the place is stickerd up. I like stickers... Staff was friendly and seeing dough tossed and pizzas prepped from outside was nifty to watch.

This place not only has a great vibe to it but also has some good food. Do not be scared by the look of the pizza they will fresh bake it for you. Sometimes the crust may come out a little burnt but the overall taste of pizza is great. WARNING. Do not come here if you dislike think crust pizza or a rock and roll type atmosphere. For the price you can't bet it. We had the one of each 5 specials they had on the board: The Wave Sunny trip Tropical Paradise Lazy Boy Hottie Pie This is a great place to get your hipster daily dose. I've been here once before after Bar:30 it's great for that greasy, liquor soaking and sobering up cuisine. The pizza are all layer out on a tray pre-cooked waiting for re-heat in their oven once you order. (It's fancier than my microwave but the same effect) The ambience is graffiti art mixed with what I'm guessing attract local artists. Not much for cleaning tables or stalking condiments. Like I said pizza is cheap so expect the same with the rest of the place. If you are in need of food that's cheap and quick this is your spot!

Walked into this joint last Friday after a long night on the town. The line was a bit long so I expected a long wait, but much to my surprise we were in the front of the line in just a matter on minutes. They have a bunch of random pizza slices to choose from; I'm kind of boring with my pizza toppings and generally just get cheese, but there was a taco pizza that my boyfriend got that was delicious. One thing I really liked about this place was that all of the slices you order are raw, and once you order they throw them into the oven. The crust was crispy and buttery - better than any other pizza crust I've ever had. Everything was super inexpensive; a slice of pizza and a beer was only a few bucks. The atmosphere is crazy cool - they have pin ball machines and what not. I'll post a few pictures of the artwork in the bathroom.... so freaking cool. I'll definitely be telling all of my friends about this place!

I've stayed downtown in Salt Lake City since 2010 and this is the most consistent pizza spot . Funky, used to be a graffiti store where you bought tag ink pens and spray cans. Love the artwork on the walls , but the place is en Fuego when it comes to slices of pie. A cold HooDoo beer, a slice of " Sweetie Pie" ( sausage,brown sugar jalapeÃ±o slices,roasted red peppers & basil ) or a slice of " Magical Mystery Tour" ( Mushrooms,Garlic,Spinach ,Artichokes Alfredo ) Sam & Neal are friendly,gracious and great hosts . Don't go late, if you're Latin. My partner went late. They had his pizza ready. The cashier said it was his and the guys behind the counter gave it away. It wasn't until the Latin cashier said that the next pizza was his, that they would give it to him. They completely ignored his presence and helped every other white customer in the place, before they would help him. Despicable service. Are we living in the 1950's? Even some of the other white customers noticed it and we're commenting about it. Thankfully the Latin cashier was a good guy. But what other kinds of people do you employ?

This place is best if you are downtown already and want something that is tasty and fast. I enjoyed my slices quite a bit. They definitely have a target market in mind and you can tell by their decorating but I would not let that stop you from trying their pizza. Service was great and the place was relatively clean. Delivery took an hour and a half! The guy who took my order was nice and honest that is would take about an hour for delivery. I agreed we'd be ok with an hour. But an hour and twenty rolled around and I started getting agitated (9pm on a Thursday). Tried to call several times but no answer until finally a minute and half before the pizza dude showed up at the door they answered the phone and then put me on hold...ugh. The pizza would have been fantastic if it hadn't been so cold. Id recommend dining in or take out. Not delivery. I gave three stars simply because I believe the service and food is great if you aren't relying on delivery. Relying on delivery left a bad taste in my mouth, therefore, five stars is a no-go for Pie Hole.

One word: gross. Not the pizza per se, but the entire place and the way they handled the pizza. Pizza slices hung over the plates & hit the counter as they threw the orders down on the counter by the cashier (counter and the whole place doesn't look so clean). Okay... we're hungry & tired & grumpy and not too many places open, so we pay without complaining and carry our slices to the table. Tables aren't bussed and we had to clean ours ourselves. The whole time we ate there, I prayed that we wouldn't get sick (and I ain't religious!). As for the pizzas, they were pretty descent. But if you're into not eating dirty food, move along. I felt yelp reviews let us down.

BRING HAND SANITIZER! Great little dive in the heart of SLC. Different vibe then my group was used to but it was fun to shake it up. Potato bacon pizza is amazing no wonder why it's their claim to fame. Great price - a good place to grab a quick bite on the go. Definite do again. Was in SLC for work and decided to take a late night walk around the downtown (nice little downtown imho). Yes, I had a few beers, so I was hungry by the time I decided to call it a night around 1:30. Not much is open late for food but I found Pie Hole (using Yelp of course). The best thing about Pie Hole was the people watching. My yuppyness stuck out like a sore thumb among the eclectic mix of patrons. Everyone was friendly though, and I made small talk with some of the others in the long line. Finally, pizza time. They have a lot of different options, including vegan. I'm a classic pepperoni, olive, or mushroom type of guy. I only saw pepperoni so got a slice of that and a cheese for good measure. Very reasonably priced, I think it was $5-6 for two slices. I took my slices outside and ate them leisurely while continuing to people watch. Pizza was just m'eh, which wasn't a good sign considering I'd had a few beers by that point. Very thin but not especially crunchy, the sauce and cheese just didn't taste that flavorful.

The exhaustion of exploring on foot for over seven miles had me quickly scrapping my "fancy" dinner plans in favor of something greasy, cheesy, and satisfying: cheap pizza by the slice. The menu here is short and simple. They've got about four types of pizza slices always at the ready. Upon the cashier's recommendation, I went with their famous potato and bacon pizza, which was only $2.75 for a large, thin crusted slice. Though they popped it in the oven to heat it up, it did not dry out at all, and it was still deliciously gooey. They were light on the sauce, cheese, and toppings, but somehow, it still worked. You order at the counter, and they'll holler when you're order is ready. Credit cards are accepted, but as their sign states, "cash is preferred." There are a couple of tables inside, and a couple of tables outside. They have a self serve soda fountain, but as other reviewers have noticed, the PBR is cheaper than soda, so order appropriately.

LOVE Pie Hole! Granted I always have 'drunk munchies' when I call at 2:00am for delivery, but it is always delicious! Friday night (well, really Saturday morning) I ordered a pepperoni, spicy chorizo, jalapeno and mushroom pie... gaaaah, so good! The woman on the phone was very nice and double checked that she heard the order right, as it was very loud in the restaurant, and the delivery boy was a sweetie, also. The slices are huge- the most excellent fold in half kind! I encourage everyone to call Pie Hole for their late night food craving... or daytime craving, for those non-restaurant industry (or non-vampire) folk.

Not necessarily the best pizza but a great value and fills the spot when needing a quick feeding. Came here to get a quick slice before heading to a movie and only had about 30 minutes, so this worked perfectly. The slices are ready to go and they thrown them in the oven to warm them up. They have the "regulars" or the slices they offer every day (Cheese, Pepperoni, Bacon and Potato, and Red Peppers and Basil. Then they have rotating slices with cool/funny names. I went for the Drunk Candy special slice which had bacon, pineapple and jalapeÃ±os on "red" (meaning tomato sauce and not alfredo or pesto), and it was good. The pizzas are sort of NY style but very/overly thin, so best if you fold to make it easier to eat. They have PBR in cans and some other local Utah beers in bottle, and also a case of your other cold drinks including Gatorade, bottled Coke, fancy sodas (Boylans or something similar), and of course regular fountain drinks. A couple of pinball machines and Pac Man wait for you in the back as well. In summary, this place is a solid quick slice place with some tables, but if you want better pizza, there are others in SLC that are tastier (e.g. Settebello, The Pie, Rusted Sun).

These pizzas are so yummy! I've actually only tried one of Pie Hole's pizzas because I just moved to the area, but it was really good. I ordered the Pretty, Pretty, Princess for pick-up. The employee estimated it would be ready in 20 minutes; it ended up taking 35 minutes. While that's only an extra 15 minutes, it's still a little annoying. That pizza was still really good, though. Definitely check this place out.

Pie Hole-in-the-wall may be a more fitting description of the ambience of this place, especially on weekend nights past 1AM. That being said, how many places are open in SLC past 11PM most nights? And provide food to boot?! The pizza itself is great; I'm a sucker for the thin crust and I like their toppings. I got the Mango/Pork/Jalapeno pizza last time, it was delicious! Service is good, though they probably get slightly extra props for the whole dealing with drunk a-hole factor. Oh and did I mention this place is pretty dang cheap too? Well, it is. Visiting from LA. I was excited with all the positive Yelp reviews of NY style pizza. But it just didn't do it for me. The pizza was a bit too thin and the flavors were a bit dull. Got the Thai Chicken and Meatball slices. For the price and type of pizza, I rather go to Costco.

The pizza here is really good, but the service is just okay. It's a hole in the wall little pizza joint with brightly covered graffiti. Kind of a grungy feel to it. There was steady crowd in the place during lunch on a weekend. Pizza is out for display and then heated up to order. They have some unique combos, which, I cannot really remember off the top of my head, but they were good nonetheless! Love that they have a huge variety of hot sauces :)

The name fits the place. It's just a hole in the wall that serves pizza. The "decor" of the place is "swanky" as another yelper describes it...not to say that's a negative thing. It's the type of place you would go to get fast and cheap pizza if you were drunk. And the pizza itself, nothing special.

My boyfriend and I built our own pizza a few nights ago. The ingredients are fresh, and even though we live just outside of their radius, they still delivered to us without additional fees. The pizza was huge, and I love the texture of the thin crust. If you don't like thin crust, don't go, but if you do, it's great! Get the potatoes on your pizza and chicken. Both are tasty and the chicken chunks are really big and delicious!

It's very good pizza for SLC and very very good compared to good pizza at other local favorites that are 15-30% more expensive. My first experience I ate a whole Pie (Pun). It really shocked me. Really good! Next time, I grabbed a slice or two and my only complaint would be that two slices were tasty but not huge. Next time, I ordered a different pie and it was good for sure; but it had almost no red sauce which is fine if that's the intention (for some recipes) but this had red sauce and it was pretty sparse. Overall, a darn good piece of pizza. Service was friendly so I'm guessing that when I go back and ask them to be generous with the red sauce; I suspect they will (be). I'll be there again and will update for sure!

After hours, this is one of the few places in SLC, particularly in Downtown that you can count on. The selection is always varied and cheap. Everything that I've had is tasty, particularly the classics like pepperoni. The space can be cramped at times so finding a table can be an interesting adventure.

An associate and I walked past this place and decided we had to go back. It has a ton of character. The pizza is 5 stars. We had Pepperoni, Cheese and one of their speciality Pepperoni Sausage Onion and Tomato slices. None of them were bad, they were all great, but the speciality pizza popped in your mouth it was that flavorful. I'm pretty sure their air conditioning was broken or they just don't use it, but we ate inside and it was very warm and stuffy. We will return to the Pie Hole.

Pizza is never consistent. Hipsters galore--you can feel their smugness as you enter this business. Been there a few times--wish they would make the male workers do something about their hipster facial hair bc it ends up in the pizza and I am not the first one to say it about this place. I have been looking forward to writing this review because this is my go to late night place to eat in SLC and also one of my front-runners for the best pizza. What I ordered The pizza quality can vary depending on the time. During the after clubbing rush the pizza can be overcooked (crust is too crispy and cheese has almost liequfied), but if you just go for a normal/late dinner it is less crowded and the pizza is more consistent. My typical order is 3 slices (I know that sounds like a lot but its just that good!): Cheese/Potato Bacon (which are regulars on the menu and available anytime)/ Special Slice (there are 3 normally that vary daily) and diet coke. The potato/bacon slice tastes like a baked potato and pizza had a baby and covered it in bacon. I know it is unconventional combo for pizza but it's delicious and I definitely recommend it if it is your first time there. The specials are always something I look forward to getting because the flavor combos in both the toppings and sauces are always unique. Last time I was there I got the Drunk Candy (pineapple Canadian bacon with jalapeno) and it was delicious. I love this aspect of the pie hole because my experience there is never mundane and it keeps me going back. Cut to the Chase: 5 Stars! Let's be honest this isn't the gourmet pizzeria that you might be looking for. However, when you're a little hung over and it's one in the morning it's the best place to get potato and bacon pie. I think the Pie Hole saved my life... Well, maybe not literally but for anyone that goes out all night drinking at the bars downtown needs some nosh before going to bed. I had never been to the Pie Hole before this and ended up getting a large pizza and the garlic bread to go. The staff is super friendly, especially with how many people were coming in and out. And to have to deal with a bunch of drunkards even says more about their friendliness. But besides the super friendly staff their pizza was incredibly. I loved that it was a thin crust and was fairly crunchy. Definitely give it a try!

To each their own... many people seemed happy here. Good people watching, friendly fast service but it has to be a pretty bad slice of pizza for me not to even want finish it when I'm hungry. Maybe my expectations were too high...I'm from the Northeast where it is very easy to find good pizza...but I simply did not like it at all. I had a traditional pepperoni slice and another that had red pepper on it. The slices were not freshly made...they were just sitting there frozen on the counter before being reheated, there was hardly any tomato sauce, the cheese was gummy and greasy, and worst of all, the crust tasted like soap. I was starving, I had half of each slice and couldn't finish the rest so threw them out and moved on. The highlight was that a can of PBR was only $1. So the whole experience was only $6.

I was instantly a fan of this place because it reminds me of my all-time favorite pizzeria, Momo's in Tallahassee, FL - there was punk music streaming through the speakers, the soda machine was covered in stickers, and a massive wall of PBR cans greeted you upon entering. The pizza selection itself was doable but nothing impressive. I enjoyed my veggie slice, my boyfriend liked the potato bacon variety, and the thin crust was great. This eatery stays open until the wee hours of the night, and I could totally see myself returning for a late-night slice. Overall, generally a thumbs up for a hole-in-the-wall spot serving pizza by-the-slice.

What a fun space! I love the graffiti murals, pinball machines, and artfully arranged stacks of beer cans. The Pie Hole is aptly named, but definitely my kind of place. Just beat the lunch rush today and my pizza was ready promptly. I ordered a slice of red pepper with basil and a slice of pepperoni. Both slices were pretty greasy and I would have liked the former to have more peppers, but overall both were crispy and delicious. With a drink and tax, my order was just over $7. This place has excellent daily specials, for example, on Mondays two slices and a drink are only $5. Additionally, PBR is $1 per can EVERY DAY. You could get day drunk on your lunch break (but probably don't)! The late night hours at The Pie Hole are awesome, making it a perfect stop on the way home from the bars or just to satisfy your late night cravings pretty much any night of the week. I'm not sure that The Pie Hole is my favorite place for slices, but it's definitely solid. Try it out!

This is one of those places where the hour and state of coherence that you are visiting in dictates your level of enjoyment. Day light = Hell no! Late night and/or buzzed = Hell yeah!! Low on cash = Hell why not? It's super divey and may not be the most clean place around, but the prices are right for some pretty decent pizza by the slice and bottle/can beer. The best thing is that they are one of the few places open late late and deliver late even if they are often late on delivery.

The Pie Hole is a hole in the wall joint in the transitional part of downtown, between the businesses, and TRAX, of the west side, and the jovial lights on the other side of State street. So if you want to avoid the often avoidable Main street, and spend the money you saved, go here to spend less than expected and stay up later than most restaurants in a diurnal Salt Lake City. I walked away with a Uinta brew and two slices (potatoes bacon, and basil garlic) for under 6 dollars which is a feat to beat in what seems to be a race for the most expensive pizza in the state. Thin crusted, and unburdened by heavy, dense flavors, this pizza is simply, and decadently so. The Pie Hole receives five stars because it captures it's weekend-warrior, nocturnal nurse, and wanderlust couple audience with warm service, local flavor, and a price that allows the night to continue from there.

My first time visiting Salt Lake City, let alone Utah. I wasn't really sure what was good around the area so my friends trusted Yelp and went with Pie Hole. Very disappointing. We had two pizzas delivered to our hotel and they were late by an hour and a half. They also got our orders wrong. They also gave us no utensils for the salad. Who doesn't love a late nite skinny floppy greasy huge piece of pizza? Plus they really push the limits on toppings for the pizzas-- they always have some new and interesting. Potatoes and bacon? Yes they have it. JalapeÃ±os on most of their pizzas? Yes. Thank God someone knows what they are doing. Everyday they have a new different pizza so U better be going everyday to catch'm all. They've hired a bunch of hipsters-- which is awesome so they are chill and fun to talk to. The place is pretty rad with it's old arcade look and graffiti on the walls. The crowds here are usually high and drunk so be prepared to meet some very interesting people, or you can just watch them and be entertained. They are open late and it's cheap. So basically the deal is in the bag. BAM BABBY!!!

For your late night pizza needs, Pie Hole is the spot! There's always a line out the door if you're going between the hours of 1am-2am, but it moves really quickly so no worries. Most of their pizzas have been sitting out, so when you tell them which kind you'd like, they'll warm it up in the oven for you. There's often a selection of 3 or 4 special pies they offer which I enjoy trying on occasion, but my favorite is the potato bacon. There's no AC in the restaurant, so don't plan on sitting inside to eat in the summer.

My prayers have been answered. A late night food joint that won't break the bank. When I say late, I'm talking EVERY night: Sun-Thurs til 2am and Fri & Sat til 3am! Another great thing is that everything includes tax so the $2.50 slice is really $2.50! And if you're still looking for a deal, their 19" pie is triple the size of the chain place and the Pie Hole is still less than three of chain pizza. All these pros and I still haven't gotten to their pies. They run a good selection of slices both in the vegetarian and meat lover variety. One of their "always on the menu" is the potato bacon pie, yes, it is a must have if you like bacon. Their daily specials have great creativity like the bird dog or sal-or-rizo. The slices are big enough that you have to fold them in half to eat them. In addition to pies, they have salads, wings and cheese/garlic bread. They also have beer! Maybe one day they will have pie of the pastry type for those late night sugar cravings. (hint hint) This place is spot on for the price you pay for a quality product. They have great daily specials, discounts for students. Great atmosphere for lunch, pre/post bar/movie night. I can't wait for them to finish their back room.

I'll try pepperoni next time. $2.75 a slice is pretty good and the environment/staff are excellent. Very nice, not pressuring, and I love the PBR can pyramid. They take their pizzas and throw it in the oven to heat it up for you. I'm a little indifferent to it, it does make for the pizza to be a bit dry but I love the concept of pie hole and the environment is probably my favorite. Oh they also have a punch card for each slice you order. Love it.

Well here's the thing. If you live in SLC then you know that the whole city basically shuts down after PM. If you are coming from the bars or a late night show Pie Hole is the place to go if you are craving a good slice of pie. They have PBR for dollars and they have weekly specials on all their pizzas. Now would I eat there if I was ever sober probably not because there are plenty of other places that offer way better. But if everything is closed Pie hole will not treat you wrong. Its wayyyy better then going to a dirty roach coach or 24 Mexican place to go eat. I mean c'mon you would rather go to Denny's??? Didn't think so.

I love this place because they're big on garlic and have unique recipes. They're prices are great if your low on cash! Ordered two pizzas and two garlic cheese breadsticks late on a Saturday night for delivery. Order arrived at the short end of the time estimate (yeah, we were HUNGRY) - we were staying in the Radisson downtown, the delivery driver came right to our door. The breadsticks were great, essentially the dough from the pizza, cooked with the asked for toppings (garlic/cheese). If you like garlic, this is what you should get, served with dipping sauce. Really enjoyed these! The pizza was out of this world awesome! Thin crust, nice level of sauce (which wasn't too sweet and the right level of spice), toppings were adequate (not too much, not too little) and the cheese was nicely even and melted just right. The crust was cooked all the way with no soft/weak/doughy parts. Wish we had one like this back in Kansas city :( as it would be our new favorite pizza place.

I've been to Pie Hole a few times. My pizza was always really greasy. It looks think they wanted the place to look like a filthy sty and it does feel fairly gross to be in there. The prices are average lunch prices, they have different pizzas to try out (they experiment), and they are open late. There you will get a local experience rather than a chain, which is nice.

Unfortunately, I felt the best aspect of this restaurant were its hours of operation. There are several different types of pizzas that you can buy by the slice. I tried the potato-bacon, vegetarian, pepperoni, and their white pizza. All the varieties I tried were extremely bland, except for the pepperoni. Their signature potato-bacon pizza, could have used a lot more potato and bacon. The interior is decorated with funky paintings and loud music played in the background. You think they were competing with the club two doors down. Service was okay. The young lady taking my order was patient in explaining the pizzas of the day, but beyond taking your order and heating it up, there is not much interaction. So as stated earlier, it is a good place to go if you are craving pizza at 12 in the morning, but the pizza itself is not terribly special.

PRESENTATION: The decor was awesome, unique. TASTE: Okay I've never had pizza like this in a long long time. The New York style pizza was delicious everything came together on one pizza. Delicious late night grubbin' spot! We popped in here after spending some time listening to dubstep next door and giant slices of foldable pizza were exactly what we needed after midnight. The potato bacon is by far the best pizza by the slice you an get, and if you're afraid of potato on a pizza, don't be. It's great and you will crave it forevermore. I promise.

New in Salt Lake. Called for delivery close by and was quoted an hour, called after an hour and a half, was told the driver is on the way. Called back over an hour later, around three hours in the initial delivery order, and was told that our order had fallen through the cracks of the system. No apology was made, no offer to send a new delivery or discount the price. Told them not to bother and I'd never be back.

This is a Pie Hole in the Wall, but a good one, especially for late night pizza by the slice. Nothing fancy or romantic about it unless of course you are 17. The pizza is tasty fresh and creative. I had something with potato on it and it was surprisingly fantastic. They prefer you pay in cash and probably don't wipe the tables after every guest but its not the kind of place you expect that sort of service.

Cheap pizza and beer and open late, what more could you ask for? Kind of in a shady part of town, but close to downtown bars which is good. The closest thing to New York pizza I've tasted in Salt Lake. I haven't found a better pizza place yet and yes I have been looking! Every now and then you get a piece that seems a little stale, but overall very good and I love that you can get it by the slice. I love the Thai Chicken, and BBQ Porker with pulled pork, jalapeno, mango and bbq sauce, mmm! The pizzas of the day are always awesome and very inventive. Put some pie in your hole!

I love just about everything about the Pie Hole. The staff is always really friendly and helpful. They are quick to tell you about the different pizzas and the specials. I love the specials! Can you really say no to $1 beer? or two slices and a drink for $5? The pizza itself is quite tasty. I have had quite a few different kinds and the only one that I was disappointed with was the thai chicken. It was a little dry for my taste and I was hoping for a peanut sauce. The dryness could have been because it was later in the night. I love that they are open so late. It's exactly what downtown Salt Lake needed. There's nothing better than eating a tasty slice (or two) when you've been out all night with your friends. There's a certain charm about the paper plates with sharpie for signs, the PBR can towers, and creepy art on the walls.

If you're thinking about spending money on a slice here, do yourself a favor and walk ten minutes over to Este. I was thoroughly underimpressed with the Pie Hole. You know it's mediocre when you're dumping parmesan on top by the tablespoon-fulls. I mean, if you're drunk and can't tell the difference, whatever. But for good pizza, Este it up.

So THIS is New York style pizza! Skinny and floppy, just like on TV and in the movies! I've never had anything, anywhere, that looks and acts exactly like what I think of when I think NYC pizza. I've never been to New York (yet), so I can't comment on the true authenticity, but it looks real to me. And the flavors here are excellent. I loved the potato bacon... and the bird dog (with bacon)... and the one with freshly sliced jalapenos and meatballs. The sauces were great, the toppings were fantastic and the crust was beautiful and super tasty. I love the pizza at the Piehole! The ambiance is very cool too. A little divey. A little underground. A bit hip, with lots of stickers and graffiti plastered all around. $1 PBR's is a beautiful thing! This is going to become one of my go-to spots for sure!

I'm not a pizza fanatic. I can take it or leave it. But, when I want it, it'd better be good, and at least interesting. The Pie Hole totally hits the mark. One, the pizza is good! Two, they have interesting choices, and three (and most important) they are open REALLY late! For me, pizza is best late at night after doing other things. Thanks for being there, Pie Hole!

Pie Hole (Don't call it "The" Pie Hole within earshot of them!) rocks. I really like everything about this place. The questionable location sandwiched between a tattoo shop and a bar make this the ideal location for some serious slices of pie. The inside is definitely not for those seeking high-end ambiance. Black walls and stacks of emptied PBR's constitute the majority of the decor. Ryan, the owner, and his staff are serious about pizza. These guys make the dough from scratch and it shows in the final product. Nicely crisp and chewy makes for the perfect dough in my book, and these guys have it nailed. As has been said in other reviews, the potato bacon is my favorite, although their other slices, like the bird dog, are equally tasty. Every day they have a different special and different deals, so make sure to check them out! These guys are one of the few local downtown eateries open late every day of the week. And don't forget the Mrs. Pacman game in the back.

There is nothing like some pie hole to satisfy that late night munchies after a night of fun in downtown Salt Lake City. I recommend a slice of potato bacon and pepperoni! **On the flip side, if you're craving and decide to get it delivered, be warned that it might take a bit to get to you...1 hour and 15 minutes!

Oh man. I thought I liked pizza but after trying the pie hole's pizza. I love pizza! They take pizza to a different level, a place where anything can happen. My favorite has to be the bacon potato pizza, but the thai chicken is a close second. They always a vegetarian option which is awesome if you're married to a vegetarian. So if you haven't tried the pie hole, go try it now.

Open late? In Salt Lake City? And cheap? I'm there! The pizza here is NY style-ish, in that it has a thin, crispy crust. We ordered a few slices, and while the meatier slices had a good amount of topping per slice, for some reason the veggie ones had an anemic amount of veggie on them.

If you can get past the name and the slightly sketchy tattoo parlor/bar neighbors, the Pie Hole's pizza is really good. Granted, the business lunch crowd may be their second target audience behind the late night bar crowd but good food speaks to everyone right? Specials are written out on paper plates and $1 PBR is highlighted. Skip to the pizza which features high-end, quality and locally sourced ingredients. While you can order whole pies made any way you wish, if you want just a slice or two, you can choose from a variety including cheese ($2.25), pepperoni ($2.50), roasted red pepper and basil ($2.50), potato bacon ($2.75) and several slices of the day. All prices include tax.

Having been here in SLC now for two years( we came from NY) we love our east coast pizza. For downtown, the Pie Hole is pretty damm good. I had a large pie with pepperoni,sausage and salami. It was outstanding.

Pretty good NYC style pizza joint. Punk rock interior. Unusual ingredients and combinations. Had slices of Summer Salami with Cherry Peppers and Beef with Jalepenos and Onion. Both were above average and right up my alley. Good beer selection. It's a down and dirty place so I am not sure i'd seek it out but running across it with an empty stomach would be fine indeed. 1 dollar Pabst and open until like 2 AM. This place TRULY is like NY. They have all the pizzas cooked and displayed so all you have to do is point to the slices you want, and you get to see them. Then they take the slices and reheat them, which causes them to be slightly crunchy. I love this style of business soo much. I feel it's unique to Utah and people may actually NOT like that their food was actually cooked 2 hours ago. But growing up in NY that's how EVERY place does it and it's the CORRECT way God intended pizza to be served I tell you! This may beat out Este fo real!

I also wouldn't take anyone here to impress them with culture. But, when I want me a slice o'pie and a beer it's my go-to hole-in-the-wall joint.

The pizza is divine. I loved tasting each piece we tried, from a traditional cheese and pepperoni to a special with artichoke hearts, sausage and red onions. We also had to taste that "famous" potato bacon. The "regulars" are good, but those daily specials looked quite enticing too. I like the paper plate, the atmosphere and the jokes from the guys behind the counter. With the cheap pizza and beer, I was feeling at home. Pizza that tastes like home? Even better. I'll be back, can't wait to try the other specials, and I'm looking forward to the day I can get my meat loving man to order the pepperoni, sausage, ham, bacon special - The Pretty, Pretty Princess.

I love this pizza. The thin crust with the extra side of grease is just what the cardiologist ordered. I really like their take on the originals as well as the staples. Me I love a good slice of pepperoni and a beer (hey you know I'm a simple man who is waging an ongoing war against his liver....and intestinal tract). The service is always helpful and smiling, the beer is cold and the pizza is like my wife (so hot it burn your mouth). The atmosphere is divey and I feel right at home here. They are open late and I have never been disappointed. So head down grab a slice and sit outside enjoy the blistering heat (it's a dry heat so you don't feel it as much) and just enjoy.

Yep, this pizza is good. The cheese and crust are amazing, which kind of makes or breaks pizza. Slices are $2.75- not very big and skimpy on most toppings (my chorizo and pepper slice literally had 6 less-than-pea-sized bits of chorizo and 2 pepper pieces on it, which is how the entire pie looked), but if you get two slices it's filling and still a decent price. The potato bacon is as good as everyone says, a must-try. Oh yeah and the $1 PBR complements nicely.

Looking for a cheap bite I stopped here when I saw $2.25 specialty slices for lunch. They had some creative and fun pies advertised and was excited to try something new. I got a slice Thai chicken with peanut sauce and potato hummus slice. It was so good! It was also HH so it was only $1.75 a slice and there were cheap beers as well. The decor was cool and the staff was friendly too. I ended up coming back for dinner. If your looking for a fun cheap unique bite this place is a sore dick - you can't beat it.

I like the atmosphere of the Pie Hole, but the pizza is not the best. The best i can describe the atmosphere is like a dive bar. I went there around 7pm and there was no pepperoni pizza. I had the Pig Roast pizza and a salami pizza pizza with peppers. It was a little dry. They do have good specials on pizza especially during lunch hours and for college students on Thursday night. I prefer Este Pizza for NYC style pizza in SLC, but I will likely return to the Pie Hole.

We found ourselves wandering the streets of downtown Salt Lake City on Christmas Eve night wondering where we were going to find something delightful to eat. We were about to settle for the-same-old Chinese food when someone had the bright (ha! pun intended!) idea to eat at The Pie Hole on 344 S. State St., Salt Lake City, Utah. Hallo! It's pizza by the slice, it's cheap, and they were even open until 3 AM. The food was delicious! We tried the cheese and basil/red roasted peppers with a side of garlic cheese breadsticks and it was a serious delight. The pizza crust was thin, but not soggy, and pretty darn flavorful. I'm kind of glad they sell by the slice because otherwise I would have eaten myself into an early Christmas coma. The staff was also super nice, instead of like my other experiences eating out on holidays where the staff seems to hate that you're making them work. So if you're ever wandering around the downtown Salt Lake area with an empty tummy and a few dollars in your pocket, do yourself a favor and get a slice (or four) at the Pie Hole.

I come here for the pepperoni and $1 dollar PBR. If you are bar hoping in downtown and get hungry - you can come here and eat. The atmosphere is cool and it feels just like a dive bar. This place has plenty of seating, just work your way towards the rear. I recently discovered that they have a pizza happy hour. It runs weekdays from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm. You can buy a slice and get one for free. There is no restrictions and you can try one or all of their combinations. I also recommend the pesto pizza - it is very tasty and delicious. I will definitely start coming here more often.

I really want to love Pie Hole. I may have a fundamental flaw in that I'm just not a pizza fanatic, or it could be that I know nothing about pizza. That being said, I like what I like and I felt pretty indifferent about this place. I mean, I love the concept of having pizza by the slice, I love that they are open late just about all the time, and I also love that their environment is unpretentious and what a pizza place should feel like. But. I did not like that my pizza's crust was super burnt. In order for me to "fold" my pizza in half, I had to crack it and make a pizza sandwich. The cheese had been sitting out for a very long time and was pretty rubbery. And while I love a greasy pizza, I'm not so much a fan of it when there's a ton of it dripping onto my plate. I just didn't have an enjoyable eating experience. I will say that the flavor of the potato bacon was surprisingly good. I may come back and request a freshly made pizza of that to redeem my experience here, also, I'm curious what a bird dog is.

It is a nice thin pizza that does a great job of filling you up. I have always liked this location downtown. Yes parking sucks but for a good pizza in the heart of SLC, thiss can't be beat. I think Este edges this out for me but only barely.

After a few not so great slices of pizza here in Utah... I was afraid I would have to deal with ho-hum pizzerias in the beehive. That is SO not the case. The Pie hole isn't that much to look at, but what good pizza place really is? It stays open late too, so if you find yourself hungry and wandering around downtown past 10pm... for WHATEVER reason, pull out your smart phone and map yourself right into this place!

This place was recommended by my VegNews e-newsletter & since I happened to be in town, thought I'd check it out. Went around 6:30pm on a weeknight & the vibe was a bit "downtown" (as in interesting....but that's how I like my pizza places so it was perfect for me!) Tried: The vegan slice - highly recommend! Tons of veggies, could have used more red sauce but it was yummy. The roasted red tomatoes & basil slice - I was hoping for more but it was edible. Somehow the red toms weren't as flavorful as expected. Salad - so good! What seemed like all veggies in the place & generous croutons piled on lettuce & served with vinaigrette on the side. The croutons got a bit soggy when I left them in the dressing which made them all that much better. Had leftovers for the next day too. Overall, a big thumbs up. You can even watch them throw pizzas in the window overlooking the street. Plenty of seating, video games, and beer options to wash down the yummy slices. Friendly service, too.

One day, I ate here three times. I have prepared a list of things I adore and appreciate about Pie Hole. The first time I ate here, I decided I wanted to pretty much move in. These guys are not trying to be the cool kids, they are just naturally rad. Lunch for less than 8 bucks. The pizza is fantastic. The thin crust allows for fold-in-half-ification which I've always liked because then it's like you have a pizza sandwich and I just feel like that's a really fun idea. Cans of the greatest beer ever (PBR) are a dollar, and there are castles in the rafters built out of empty cans. The people working are friendly and cute. The signs are the result of magic marker fun-time on paper plates. There are 80s arcade games in the back. Weekend late night = pretty great people watching on the sidewalk. I think that if there was one way to improve, it would be to figure out some sort of dessert pizza. Even if it was only served on special occasions. I like treats. I'm never going to go to that other New York style pizza place in SLC that starts with an E again if I can help it.

This is one of the best pizza joints in SLC for a lot of the reasons stated by earlier reviewers. It's thin crust and tasty. I like it better than Este as the crust is thin but actually has taste. It's best to eat the pizza fresh there or as take out. It doesn't reheat well the day after.

Pie Hole's thin crust pizza sold by the slice is every bit of awesome mentioned in other reviews. I like that they have rotating specials each day and I can't eat there without getting the bacon potato. I recently discovered I live within their delivery zone, which means my waistline will soon be in SERIOUS trouble. The only downside to Pie Hole is no parking lot. Everything else is awesome.

There's no other pizza place in SLC like this. You just gotta go and check it out. I've been to Pie Hole several times now and I sort of love the place for the ambiance, the people, and definitely the food. First, the ambiance. Snugly set between a lounge and a tattoo parlor, Pie Hole fits right in. Enter and you're greeted by a line of paper plates taped to the counter that tell you all about the pizza, their specials, or anything else you need to know about. The walls, although initially painted with bright colors, are slowly transforming into graffiti art murals. There are two distinct areas of the dining space -a front area with tables and chairs, and the back room with second-hand booths, a counter top and bar stool setup, a small couch and chair corner, a pinball machine, and that coy classic arcade game, Ms. Pac-Man. Rumor has it they're on the lookout for another '80s video game. For the love of Punky Brewster and all things Lionel Richie let's hope it's Asteroids, Centipede, or Frogger. Under dim lights a massive stack of empty PBR cans reaches up to the ceiling from atop the wall separating the two dining areas while below the wall and fountain drink machine are both peppered with stickers representing bands and brands both local and national. Come as you are. Kick back. Welcome to Pie Hole. The people of Pie Hole are what make the whole thing work. What might usually make for a dark, depressing, or dirty place to dine actually becomes like the house of the kid with the cool parents. You know that kid. You come over, his folks buy you a pizza, let you listen to some music, and then leave you be to play some video games. That's the staff, a rad bunch of people who genuinely love running a pizza place in downtown SLC. A little hipster? Ya. Does that make me love it even more? Uh-huh. Finally, the food. I'm a fan. With such a focus on ambiance you might expect run-of-the-mill pizza. No sir. This is thin-crust pizza where they make their dough by hand every day. You can watch the dough magic happen in the front window if you pass by during the post lunch hours. There are several pizza combos on their always menu as well as daily specials. They make up a bunch of pizza beforehand and then throw your slice in the oven which really gives a nice crunch to the crust and achieves something that once-cooked pizza can't get. It's different, but it's delightful. Potato-bacon? Yessir. Bird dog? That dog can hunt. It's the kind of menu you can explore to find your fave flave. It's not olive-oil brushed artichoke hearts and truffles. If you come here looking for a fine epicurean tasting adventure then you clearly, clearly don't get the point. But there's room in Utah for all kinds of pizza creations and definitely room for a thin, double-bake, hipster-baked pie. Choose from plenty of drink options including the popular dollar PBRs. And it's a late night post-bar dream; they're open until 2am on weekdays and 3am on the weekends. Like a little slice of heaven in your mouth!! Between the delicious thin crust and unique slices changing every day you won't find a better pizza joint in SLC. Super fresh toppings and really tasty cheese! I love the pesto sauce, but even the traditional red sauce is amazing. It's so nice to be able to buy by the slice and they are open late so its very convenient to stop by after being out on the town with friends. Basically I heart this place. The service is always excellent, very down to earth and friendly people that work there. A few people have mentioned the delivery time being a bit slow...well yeah, that's because they make everything fresh! This isn't a fast food drive thru! Well worth the wait in my opinion.

Woohoo! Love you Pie hole! Tasty New York Style Pizza. Thin crust, not heavy on the sauce or cheese and fresh toppings. Their selection varies by day, but they always have the standard cheese and pepperoni, as well as their Potato Bacon pizza which is surprisingly good. It is a pizza I would want to reheat and eat for breakfast. My favorite part about Pie Hole is their late hours. They are open til 2 am on the weeknights (unheard of in SLC) and 3 am on weekends. Restaurants that cater to the drunk crowd have a special spot in my heart. I can now add pizza to my list of drunken late night eats.

After tasting the pizza at our awesome 80's event, I was super excited to go back and re-experience Pie Hole as a restaurant. These guys have only been open since New Years but this does not feel like a 'new' place. It feels comfortable, settled, experienced, like the joint that has been the local hangout forever. One of the coolest things they have going for them is their hours. It's pretty hard to find a restaurant late at night in UT. And while these guys do offer drinks, it still feels like a food joint and not a bar. With interesting graffiti-ish wall art and concrete floors, tables in the front room, booths in the back, it's a 'hole in the wall' ambiance, but without the dark seediness. Also, the perfectly cooked, creative flavored thin crust pizza slices are just the right amount of food for a late night excursion. I tried a veggie italiano this time: green peppers, pepperoncinis and red onions. The tangy spice of those bright green peppers was the perfect kick to compliment the rest of the flavors. I also had to steal a few bites of potato bacon from the husband, because it was one of my favorites at the event. The owners and employees are so nice and just seemed happy to have the group of us there for as long as we cared to kick it. It's a fun place to hang out, perhaps after an outing, as in our case or, as a primary destination.

The best thing about this place is the hours, they're open super late which can be very handy if you're bar hopping late night and want a quick bite when all the restaurants are closed.

Decent NY style pizza. I won't get into the argument about authenticity, because I'm pretty sure I lived in NY for a few years eating pizza that wasn't authentic enough for some yelpers. Monday's offer the "Back to Work" special of 2 slices and a soda for $5. I had one slice that had pesto and garlic and was sufficiently smelly. It was good and I'd order it again. My other slice was plain old pepperoni. It was super greasy. On the plus side I haven't had to moisturize my skin all week. Who am I kidding? I'd probably order that again too. All in all this is a divey pizza place thats open late. It offers cheap, handmade pizza. This is going into my lunch rotation.

If you go around bar closing time it will be a mess of drunk people but sometimes that's dinner and entertainment.

Shut your Pie Hole and Chew! (should be their tagline) Love this place! Had a fantastic lunch with my buddy Hang who had been making me want to pay Pie Hole a visit for weeks. Potato and Bacon pizza. How could you not love it? Well, it's possible at other places, but here it is done well. The saltiness is perfect and delicious. And, look Ma! I'm eating vegetables on my pizza! I also ordered the Machismo which was a special of the day. Crumbled chorizo, cilantro, black olives, and red sauce. It was also good (I pick off the olives - so picky!). Crust is great at this place. They toss the slices in the oven after you pick them out to crisp them up and make them uber delish - I love this. All the greats do it in NYC and I'm happy to see a few local places catch on. Decor is also fun. I just love that it's laid back and a cool hang out. Can't love the hours enough. Late night craving? They're open until 2 - on the weekDAYS! 3 on the weekends. Sweet. It was delicious enough that I am giving myself an hour and a half break and then going back for happy hour (3-4 pm) when they offer two slices for 3.50. Yeah baby! Potato and Bacon goodness.

Not only is this true east coast pizza, it is much more. Not often can one find real thin crust pizza west of Pennsylvania, but the Pie Hole delivers! I had the traditional peperoni with a cold Coke-a-cola in a glass bottle and I felt like I was back in NYC. The ingredients seem very high quality, and also that the slices haven't been sitting out all night. Also contributing to the NYC feel, was that I was served at 10:30 pm on a Thursday, an anomaly in Salt Lake which is not known for it's late night dining opportunities. As long as you don't mind hipsters serving your pie, I recommend this pie above all I've had in Salt Lake, and especially after hours!

Remove the word "pie" and this restaurant is perfectly named. I was excited to try this place since I love pizza and my friends have been raving about it. I opted for a vegan slice, which was dry and flavorless. Since I'm a lousy vegan I tried my boyfriend's slice of real pizza and was equally unimpressed. The location and hours are convenient and they have a Ms. Pac-Man game, so there's that... but the food? Meh. Times. Meh.

I'll start by saying that I generally avoid pizza. Cheap mozzarella, thick doughy crust, and enough grease to drown a small child... this is what pizza usually amounts to, unless you want to spend a small fortune at a gourmet pizzeria. Pie Hole, however, has changed this however... much to the dismay of my belt. In the interest of keeping this review digestibly short, I'll just say that the toppings are of great quality and variety and are a fabulous price. No more will I have to choose between money or quality. Sure, Pie Hole has classic bad-for-you pizza, but it's truly good. They don't use cheap mozzarella, or skimp on toppings, or only carry the basics. Pie Hole will give you a great "gourmet" pizza without the fuss and without the expense of comparable places. Being in the neighborhood of many bars, a trax station, and being open until 3 AM on the weekends, I see this place becoming quite the hotspot downtown in the near future. Frankly, with Pie Hole around now, The Pie is going to have to up its game (or get a clue, more like it in my opinion) if it wants to hold its pizza-monopoly on the college crowd. P.S. The delivery guy just got here, so I thought I'd just add that he was super friendly and the pizza rocks yet again!

The pizza at the Pie Hole is not very good, but to be fair, it is not entirely their fault. Its a fundamental flaw in the pizza by the slice model. Reheated pizza that has been sitting at room temperature for who knows how long will never achieve pizza greatness. The vegetables get sad and wilted, the meats and cheese get rubbery and the grease migrates down into the crust creating a slimy grease sponge. Yes there are places in New York that have pizza just like this, just not the great places in New York. Pizza by the slice is fine for a rushed lunch or a post drinking grease fix but not much else. Now for the part that the Pie Hole should have done better about. My pizza was AMAZINGLY greasy. The grease seeped through my crust AND my plate to leave a giant puddle of disgusting oil on my table. It was revolting! Also I do not think there was any sauce on my pizza, either they forgot it or it got washed away in a torrent of grease. The final insult was the shot glass they gave me for water. I even asked for a larger water cup and they refused to accommodate me. The women behind the counter was nice enough... when she was there. She left the counter unattended for long stretches of time and I saw more than one person simply stand and wait for her to come back to help them.

I've visited Pie Hole a number of times and have always been very satisfied, but my last trip has been just that, my last. I witnessed one of the employees throwing food at the customers and yelling profanity at them. When they went up to confront the employee they were all being ganged up on by the entire staff. It definitely was not professional and I have not and will not recommend this place ever.

first, let me preface this with the fact that i am vegan, so i am only reviewing the vegan pizzas that i've had. plus: they have vegan slices on tues & sun love the crust! minus: they seem to repeat the same vegan slices often. i have gone in 4 times (both on tues and sun) and have yet to see their vegan thai chicken. i would like more variety in the vegan slice day dept. i haven't had their cheese. apparently, they make their own. i'm eager to find a vegan slice day where they have something other than hummus or red sauce and a few veggies.

Open till last call. That in itself warrants a good rating. The Pie hole has good pizza and low prices. While I would say I have had better Pizza it wasn't this cheap, at this price this isn't just good pizza, it's great pizza. They have a decent selection of beer including alot of deals for cheap beer and pizza combos. Plus in addition to some of the more common pizzas they also have plenty of unique and vegetarian blends. It's pretty obvious that this pace is geared to the college and night crowd; and if that isn't enough to convince you there is also the great graffiti decor inside to send the point home (check the flames over the oven!) This isn't a date place, it's not a place where you plan your afternoon around it. But when you're in the city with your friends and you want some good quick food this will quickly become your go-to pizza joint.

I had the pesto slice and pepperoni and peppers slice, with a drink, for $5. The pizza was good - better than Este, which is down the street and around the corner on 200 South (although Este's garlic knots cannot be beat). I liked the vibe of the place - it reminded me of a college-town pizza-by-the-slice place, like the ones I frequented when I went to school in Berkeley, CA. Don't be fooled by its looks - a lot of business professionals in ties and business casual were patronizing the place the day I went. I wish that there were a really good, locally-owned, "thick crust" pizza-by-the-slice place downtown. Not really relevant to this review, because I liked Pie Hole's take on the thin slice, but I'm just venting.

I happened to go with friends on a Tuesday and it happened to be the day they serve a vegan pizza! EXCELLENT. It was thin crust and fabulous and the price wasn't bad. I really liked it. The beer was cheap too. My only reason it doesn't have a fifth star is that a vegan pizza isn't fresh made with the others daily! Not everyone eats cheese, although you can assume that most people that enter a pizza shop do I suppose. But it was nice to have the vegan cheese free option and my non vegan friend had a piece too and enjoyed it. Why not make one everyday? Good pizza joint though, I'd go there again.

This place was good. The sausage and other ingredients were fresh and good quality. The slices are large. The pie huge. The imported and domestic beer selection was decent although not large. They had several local beers available. The staff was friendly. We like that it is a dive and it's super casual. They have arcade games and play hard music so that's good too. This is a pretty good place. Very dingy inside, but a nice space for people watching, and a great place to swing in late night if you have a pizza craving. They usually have an eclectic selection, and are pretty good at making some awesome combinations. Price wise, it's pretty damn cheap too. This hole-in-the-wall type setup actually has quite a bit going for it. The pizza isn't out of this world, can't get enough, satisfying. BUT, it really hits the spot if you want something that's not only fast and cheap but tastes bomb.

Great pizza by the slice, and pretty spicy! I had the potato bacon and the ninja slice with the jalapeÃ±o and pineapple. These were both very spicy in fact. Outside the logo looks like Pac-Man, Atari throw back themed. Inside lots of graffiti stickers, wobbly tables, lots of flies buzzing around on that October day, and a ranting homeless guy copping an attitude with one of the girls behind the counter as he insisted their business was "going down" (going out of business). The bathroom was completely covered in graffiti, nowhere for me to write any of my own! Go here, it's good!

While my love of Pie Hole is mostly for how well it satisfies a late night, drunken craving for a slice and a Pabst Blue Ribbon, I am now a fan of their delivery. Sitting on the recliner on a recent Sunday night, wrapped in a big blanket, watching Netflix, petting my cat, with my bottle of Sailor Jerry standing stalwart, true, and at the ready on the side table, I realized I really, really wanted a pizza. On a whim, I googled Pie Hole, forgoing my standard pizza delivery options such as The Pie and Wasatch Pizza. I ordered a 19' pepperoni, anchovy, and onion pie. Quick and friendly delivery. This pie was giant. A freakin' hubcap. But with a tasty, thin ,and crispy crust, not too much cheese, and reasonable amounts of toppings (I added oregano and some hot pepper flakes), i was able to eat the whole damn thing. Over the course of four hours, but nonetheless, a lot 'za. It was a Man vs. Food situation. Man won. The Pie Hole rocks.

This is the thinnest, flattest, most potatoey pizza I've ever had. And the name is, well, the most interesting I've seen for a pizza company in a while. I had the potato bacon, the pepperoni, and the taco. I liked them all, but I don't know how much (skimpy on the toppings and sauce; heavy on the cheese). Let me just say if you want super thin and super wide slices of pizza, especially late at night, have at it. If you ever thought "gee, I think potato and pizza go very well together," be my guest. And if you thought "shut your pie hole!" was actually an invitation to stuff it with NY style pizza, then, well, you know where to go.

I was very pleased with the Pie Hole. We orders their garlic cheese bread which was seasoned with fresh garlic, very tasty. We order a large pepperoni pie and a large half potato and bacon and the Ninja. I liked the Ninja personnel, it's topped with fresh jalapeÃ±o's, pepperoni and pineapple. Overall good sauce, great crust they good use a higher quality mozzarella but it's worth the drop in. They keep a ton of slices ready and then the heat them up when you order in their oven and it's quick delicious pizza.

A greasy nightmare.. First off,I read other reviews saying this is NY style pizza...Bullshit..Not even close..Anyone who says it is has never had a slice in NY. I'm from Brooklyn and I have very low pizza and Chinese food expectations here in Salt Lake. .Places like the Pie Hole are why.. For starters, this was probably the greasiest pizza I've ever had in my life..I mean, I was pretty sure it had been soaking in Wesson oil for several hours before they peeled it from the stack of slices (wtf is that about?) and chucked it in the oven.. When I got my order the grease was puddled on top of the pizza..I had to use about 5 napkins to soak up the grease..It was kinda gross really..The grease had soaked completely through the slices and even after doing a preliminary oil spill cleanup ,it was like chewing on a sponge soaked in grease..Not just any grease either..I'm talking nasty,dirty grease..The bottom of the slice was soaked in a dirty ,oily black grease that made it look like it had been smeared on the floor of a Jiffy Lube.. To sum it up, the only thing even vaguely NY about this place is that the slices are thin crust and they use a Bakers Pride oven..They'd get their lips smacked off for serving this enedible shit in Brooklyn.. The atmosphere is a mix of drunk snow bros,hipster douchebags and assorted college kids.The staff is friendly enough but look like they could use a shower.. It may work in a pinch if you are completely hammered and aren't particularly picky about what you'll eat.. Me,I'd rather lick a catbox or just swill vegetable oil straight of a bottle than fuck with this place again.. Try Este on 200 South if you're looking for N.Y. style pizza..While they can be real hit and miss at times,it sure beats thd hell out the Pie Hole.

Yummm!! This place is funky. Definitely casual. There are stickers all over everything, but in a cool way. The employees are nice. Just check out their pizzas on display & choose by the slice. They write the pizza toppings on a display board above. Or I suppose you could order a whole pizza. The pizza is really really tasty. Full of flavor. The crust is also good. Nothing even close to tasting like cardboard. I ordered the cheese pizza with tomato sauce & another slice with garlic & oil & cheese. I believe it was called Gandalf the White. Both were great! No complaints. So if you need a quick meal without any hassle, this is the restaurant for you. I'd go back for sure.

I've updated my stars, from 3 to 4. The reason for this... Selection. I drink a lot in the downtown area and I became addicted to their damned potato bacon pizza. Aside from the regular staple options there is an ever-changing menu. Today I got a slice of PB and some porker slice. It's got BBQ, mango, pulled pork, jalapeÃ±os, etc. It's tasty, not my favorite but I love that they are always toying with new combinations. So up goes the stars. Thanks guys for making every trip a new adventure of flavor. Not a bad little dive, they have a small a small corral out on the sidewalk where you can drink and obtain cancer whilst you wait for your slices, and they will bring them out. I ordered a slice of "Sunny G." and a slice of "Potato Bacon" both were good. The crust was thin - which I prefer, not to mention better when drinking beer. Another upside is the place is stickerd up. I like stickers... Staff was friendly and seeing dough tossed and pizzas prepped from outside was nifty to watch.

We had the one of each 5 specials they had on the board: The Wave Sunny trip Tropical Paradise Lazy Boy Hottie Pie This is a great place to get your hipster daily dose. I've been here once before after Bar:30 it's great for that greasy, liquor soaking and sobering up cuisine. The pizza are all layer out on a tray pre-cooked waiting for re-heat in their oven once you order. (It's fancier than my microwave but the same effect) The ambience is graffiti art mixed with what I'm guessing attract local artists. Not much for cleaning tables or stalking condiments. Like I said pizza is cheap so expect the same with the rest of the place. If you are in need of food that's cheap and quick this is your spot!

Walked into this joint last Friday after a long night on the town. The line was a bit long so I expected a long wait, but much to my surprise we were in the front of the line in just a matter on minutes. They have a bunch of random pizza slices to choose from; I'm kind of boring with my pizza toppings and generally just get cheese, but there was a taco pizza that my boyfriend got that was delicious. One thing I really liked about this place was that all of the slices you order are raw, and once you order they throw them into the oven. The crust was crispy and buttery - better than any other pizza crust I've ever had. Everything was super inexpensive; a slice of pizza and a beer was only a few bucks. The atmosphere is crazy cool - they have pin ball machines and what not. I'll post a few pictures of the artwork in the bathroom.... so freaking cool. I'll definitely be telling all of my friends about this place!

I've stayed downtown in Salt Lake City since 2010 and this is the most consistent pizza spot . Funky, used to be a graffiti store where you bought tag ink pens and spray cans. Love the artwork on the walls , but the place is en Fuego when it comes to slices of pie. Don't go late, if you're Latin. My partner went late. They had his pizza ready. The cashier said it was his and the guys behind the counter gave it away. It wasn't until the Latin cashier said that the next pizza was his, that they would give it to him. They completely ignored his presence and helped every other white customer in the place, before they would help him. Despicable service. Are we living in the 1950's? Even some of the other white customers noticed it and we're commenting about it. Thankfully the Latin cashier was a good guy. But what other kinds of people do you employ?

This place is best if you are downtown already and want something that is tasty and fast. I enjoyed my slices quite a bit. They definitely have a target market in mind and you can tell by their decorating but I would not let that stop you from trying their pizza. Service was great and the place was relatively clean. I am glad I gave it a try!

Delivery took an hour and a half! The guy who took my order was nice and honest that is would take about an hour for delivery. I agreed we'd be ok with an hour. But an hour and twenty rolled around and I started getting agitated (9pm on a Thursday). Tried to call several times but no answer until finally a minute and half before the pizza dude showed up at the door they answered the phone and then put me on hold...ugh. The pizza would have been fantastic if it hadn't been so cold. Id recommend dining in or take out. Not delivery. I gave three stars simply because I believe the service and food is great if you aren't relying on delivery. Relying on delivery left a bad taste in my mouth, therefore, five stars is a no-go for Pie Hole.

Oh dear lord, where do I start with what appears to be a little crummy hole in the wall? I guess to start, I could say that they have the best damn pizza downtown. What more could you ask for? Really quick service, really delicious, greasy pizza. It's not classy by any means, but it's a place that doesn't judge. They've always got some awesome and a somewhat crazy selection. One word: gross. Not the pizza per se, but the entire place and the way they handled the pizza. Pizza slices hung over the plates & hit the counter as they threw the orders down on the counter by the cashier (counter and the whole place doesn't look so clean). Okay... we're hungry & tired & grumpy and not too many places open, so we pay without complaining and carry our slices to the table. Tables aren't bussed and we had to clean ours ourselves. The whole time we ate there, I prayed that we wouldn't get sick (and I ain't religious!). As for the pizzas, they were pretty descent. But if you're into not eating dirty food, move along. I felt yelp reviews let us down.

BRING HAND SANITIZER! Great little dive in the heart of SLC. Different vibe then my group was used to but it was fun to shake it up. Potato bacon pizza is amazing no wonder why it's their claim to fame. Great price - a good place to grab a quick bite on the go. Definite do again. Was in SLC for work and decided to take a late night walk around the downtown (nice little downtown imho). Yes, I had a few beers, so I was hungry by the time I decided to call it a night around 1:30. Not much is open late for food but I found Pie Hole (using Yelp of course). The best thing about Pie Hole was the people watching. My yuppyness stuck out like a sore thumb among the eclectic mix of patrons. Everyone was friendly though, and I made small talk with some of the others in the long line. Finally, pizza time. They have a lot of different options, including vegan. I'm a classic pepperoni, olive, or mushroom type of guy. I only saw pepperoni so got a slice of that and a cheese for good measure. Very reasonably priced, I think it was $5-6 for two slices. I took my slices outside and ate them leisurely while continuing to people watch. Pizza was just m'eh, which wasn't a good sign considering I'd had a few beers by that point. Very thin but not especially crunchy, the sauce and cheese just didn't taste that flavorful.

The exhaustion of exploring on foot for over seven miles had me quickly scrapping my "fancy" dinner plans in favor of something greasy, cheesy, and satisfying: cheap pizza by the slice. The menu here is short and simple. They've got about four types of pizza slices always at the ready. Upon the cashier's recommendation, I went with their famous potato and bacon pizza, which was only $2.75 for a large, thin crusted slice. Though they popped it in the oven to heat it up, it did not dry out at all, and it was still deliciously gooey. They were light on the sauce, cheese, and toppings, but somehow, it still worked. You order at the counter, and they'll holler when you're order is ready. Credit cards are accepted, but as their sign states, "cash is preferred." There are a couple of tables inside, and a couple of tables outside. They have a self serve soda fountain, but as other reviewers have noticed, the PBR is cheaper than soda, so order appropriately.

A great, quick place to stop for some delicious slices in the middle of downtown. It's cheap, it's quick, it's tasty, it's wacky (they invent a lot of bizarre pizzas), it's worth checking out. The dining rooms look like CBGB's, adding a nice veneer of punk rock attitude to the place.

Not necessarily the best pizza but a great value and fills the spot when needing a quick feeding. Came here to get a quick slice before heading to a movie and only had about 30 minutes, so this worked perfectly. The slices are ready to go and they thrown them in the oven to warm them up. They have the "regulars" or the slices they offer every day (Cheese, Pepperoni, Bacon and Potato, and Red Peppers and Basil. Then they have rotating slices with cool/funny names. I went for the Drunk Candy special slice which had bacon, pineapple and jalapeÃ±os on "red" (meaning tomato sauce and not alfredo or pesto), and it was good. The pizzas are sort of NY style but very/overly thin, so best if you fold to make it easier to eat. They have PBR in cans and some other local Utah beers in bottle, and also a case of your other cold drinks including Gatorade, bottled Coke, fancy sodas (Boylans or something similar), and of course regular fountain drinks. A couple of pinball machines and Pac Man wait for you in the back as well. In summary, this place is a solid quick slice place with some tables, but if you want better pizza, there are others in SLC that are tastier (e.g. Settebello, The Pie, Rusted Sun).

These pizzas are so yummy! I've actually only tried one of Pie Hole's pizzas because I just moved to the area, but it was really good. I ordered the Pretty, Pretty, Princess for pick-up. The employee estimated it would be ready in 20 minutes; it ended up taking 35 minutes. While that's only an extra 15 minutes, it's still a little annoying. That pizza was still really good, though. Definitely check this place out.

Pie Hole-in-the-wall may be a more fitting description of the ambience of this place, especially on weekend nights past 1AM. That being said, how many places are open in SLC past 11PM most nights? And provide food to boot?! The pizza itself is great; I'm a sucker for the thin crust and I like their toppings. I got the Mango/Pork/Jalapeno pizza last time, it was delicious! Service is good, though they probably get slightly extra props for the whole dealing with drunk a-hole factor. Oh and did I mention this place is pretty dang cheap too? Well, it is. This is a must for any extended late bar crawl through downtown. It seems to be one of the only places with people in it at night.

The pizza here is really good, but the service is just okay. It's a hole in the wall little pizza joint with brightly covered graffiti. Kind of a grungy feel to it. There was steady crowd in the place during lunch on a weekend. Pizza is out for display and then heated up to order. The name fits the place. It's just a hole in the wall that serves pizza. The "decor" of the place is "swanky" as another yelper describes it...not to say that's a negative thing. My boyfriend and I built our own pizza a few nights ago. The ingredients are fresh, and even though we live just outside of their radius, they still delivered to us without additional fees. The pizza was huge, and I love the texture of the thin crust. If you don't like thin crust, don't go, but if you do, it's great! Get the potatoes on your pizza and chicken. Both are tasty and the chicken chunks are really big and delicious!

It's very good pizza for SLC and very very good compared to good pizza at other local favorites that are 15-30% more expensive. My first experience I ate a whole Pie (Pun). It really shocked me. Really good! Next time, I grabbed a slice or two and my only complaint would be that two slices were tasty but not huge. Next time, I ordered a different pie and it was good for sure; but it had almost no red sauce which is fine if that's the intention (for some recipes) but this had red sauce and it was pretty sparse. Overall, a darn good piece of pizza. Service was friendly so I'm guessing that when I go back and ask them to be generous with the red sauce; I suspect they will (be). I'll be there again and will update for sure!

An associate and I walked past this place and decided we had to go back. It has a ton of character. The pizza is 5 stars. We had Pepperoni, Cheese and one of their speciality Pepperoni Sausage Onion and Tomato slices. None of them were bad, they were all great, but the speciality pizza popped in your mouth it was that flavorful. I'm pretty sure their air conditioning was broken or they just don't use it, but we ate inside and it was very warm and stuffy. We will return to the Pie Hole.

I have been looking forward to writing this review because this is my go to late night place to eat in SLC and also one of my front-runners for the best pizza. What I ordered The pizza quality can vary depending on the time. During the after clubbing rush the pizza can be overcooked (crust is too crispy and cheese has almost liequfied), but if you just go for a normal/late dinner it is less crowded and the pizza is more consistent. My typical order is 3 slices (I know that sounds like a lot but its just that good!): Cheese/Potato Bacon (which are regulars on the menu and available anytime)/ Special Slice (there are 3 normally that vary daily) and diet coke. The potato/bacon slice tastes like a baked potato and pizza had a baby and covered it in bacon. I know it is unconventional combo for pizza but it's delicious and I definitely recommend it if it is your first time there. The specials are always something I look forward to getting because the flavor combos in both the toppings and sauces are always unique. Last time I was there I got the Drunk Candy (pineapple Canadian bacon with jalapeno) and it was delicious. I love this aspect of the pie hole because my experience there is never mundane and it keeps me going back. Cut to the Chase: 5 Stars! You know, I promised myself I wasn't gonna be one of *those* people who write a Yelp review saying "I came from X place and didn't expect any good Y in Utah". But no, this place has freakin amazing pizza. Now I have to say that I grew up in New York and didn't expect any good pizza in Utah and I WAS WRONG. Seriously though. Good cheap tasty pizza that reminding me of the Brooklyn I grew up in, and cute bearded guys serving up vegan options reminding me of the Brooklyn I no longer recognize. Hell, I'm not even into beards. Only compliant: they don't have garlic powder for me to load on to my slice. But then again I didn't need the garlic for their pies to taste good. Also the bottle of Jones soda they sold me had a cat on it. That's always a plus.

I've gone around telling people about my first Pie Hole experience for the last 12 months. I got a takeout Pretty Pretty Princess and it blew me away. I had brain matter on the wall next to me when I finished. I hugging loved it. Today's by-the-slice experience made me a little sad. I had the potato bacon, my lady-friend had the veggie combo, and my boy took a piece of white sauce with olives and spinach. What really depressed me, made me rethink my life choices, was the amount of topping. My son had 6 olive slices, and 2 spinach leaves. I had 2 potato chunks and 2 patches of crumbled bacon. Not good enough. 3 slices was $9. I left depressed. My crush ended, the day had turned dark.

It's just not good. The place has character, which gives you the feeling that you're going to get a cheap good tasting piece of pizza but you don't. It left me feeling cheated after seeing 4 stars. A gross and expensive mistake. I never had the desire to go to this place before but then I saw the reviews on Yelp and went against my better judgment. To sum into a few words: a highly overpriced grease bomb in a trashy dive staffed by hipsters. Perhaps many like it due to the late hours in a city that otherwise has nothing else open late. Food: Pretty Pretty Princess: generous portions of meat are welcome at first, but then the greasiness overwhelms you. Potato Bacon: like eating overseasoned scallop potatoes. The first bite is novel and then it's downhill from there. Thai chicken: it's different ...novel. But the novelty wears off fast. Thai Vegan: very strong taste, but not a good taste Very expensive and would've been more satisfied with something from the frozen food section of Costco and would've paid much less. Wish I would've just gone to Maxwells for the spinach ricotta pepperoni to satisfy my NY style thin crust pizza urge. Perhaps if it's 1:30 AM and you're drunk out of your mind and nothing else is open then you may not notice that this is overpriced blah food. WASTE of money. Had it not been so expensive, I'd give it 2 stars.

This is one of my favorite places to eat downtown. Thin crust, large slices that are relatively inexpensive. I love the variety in toppings and the total hole-in-the-wall atmosphere. Hit them on Monday for the $5 lunch special and Wednesday for a slice of the Bird Dog: Chicken, bacon, red peppers, garlic, cilantro... It just doesn't get much better.

Oh my goodness. I'm officially old. This is where the punkier kids like to hang out. Maybe the drama kids too. While I was there, a high school kid shrieks and jumps onto another one. It wasn't said, but all I could hear was "Look at me! I took 2 hrs to get ready and look like I don't care--but I do." The pizza was salty. Cheese didn't seem real. I did like the fact, there was variety. I did like that Pie Hole, didn't care to be more than it is. Cheap interesting eats for the younger crowd who wants to escape the suffocating "prettiness" of SLC.

If you love thin crust pizza and want to be a hipster, then THIS is the place for you! Having said that, the drinks were cheap (including local craft beers) and the pizza varieties were inventive and delicious. I'd go back if I wanted a cheap slice and I was walking around downtown. The setting is dark, and feels a little dirty but again - this is Hipster Hole os it's all part of the vibe. Definitely worth a visit as an SLC insitution!

I went last nighy and it was very good pizza and the staff was easy to communicate with. I got a slice of cheese pizza and an Alfred Hitchcock and they were both very good. Good price for a slice. They were the only place open until three that I could find and the line was down the street. The people making the pizza were standing in front of the window so we could watch them throw the dough so it proved to be entertaining also. I highly recommend.

Love how their vegan pizza isn't just like a regular pizza with vegan cheese on it (hate that stuff!),they actually put an effort into making the "totally veegs" totally awesome and unique. Haven't tried the vegan Thai option yet, but I hear it's the bomb. This place is my new favorite pizza joint in Salt Lake. They have great vegetarian and vegan pie specials every day, and serve it up with good, and many local microbrews. There are pinball machines in back, and in general there's a good vibe of grunge throughout. If you can't find spices, ask at the counter. Sometimes they have to put them up because people steal them. If you're in Salt Lake, and like a dive pizza joint hole-in-the-wall, Pie Hole is your place.

I was hoping Pie Hole delivered slices, but when they told me they didn't, I opted for a 19 inch pie. I told the pleasant girl on the phone I originally wanted pepperoni slices and cheese garlic bread. So what did she recommend? Splitting the pepperoni pizza and cheese garlic bread to make a 19 inch pie. Brilliant. Both had thin crust, yet they weren't floppy. A little greasy, but the toppings weren't slipping off. As for the wing sauce, I have no idea what the ingredients were, but it was delicious! For someone like me surrounded by good pizza in Jersey, I am really impressed by this place. I highly recommend Pie Hole if you're looking for good pizza delivered in downtown SLC. As far as I could tell, they were one of the few pizza delivery options in town. And reliable. They told me 1 hour and they were knocking on my door 55 minutes from the time I ordered. To the owners with engineering degrees: Stay in the pizza business!

You can never go wrong coming to the Pie Hole after a long night of bar hopping. They always have a huge selection of slices to enjoy. And they always get super creative with their ideas for topping. This particular trip in they had a taco slice. It was one of the best slices I have ever had. It had chorizo, olives and great cheese. And you will never be able to beat the prices. From 2 dollar to 3 dollars tops on all slices. And the beer prices are great as well for bottles or cans. I cannot wait for my next trip in to see what other great ideas they have thought of. Oh yeah and did I mention they have 3 pinball machines along with some other arcade machines. And don't let the line ever deter you from stopping in. It moves really fast and is worth the wait. Read the sign outside to know what the specials are before heading in. It will save you some time when choosing what you want. And oh yeah, they are open till 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

If you're looking for a dive pizza place with delicious by-the-slice pizza, then step forward and order yourself some bizzarely-named tastiness, my friend! Admittedly, I've only ever come when I was tipsy (why else would a south-valley girl be wandering around downtown??) but it's always been fast and friendly service, and pizza that met my needs, and what more can you ask from a dive pizza place? One of my go-to places in SLC, especially at night when everywhere else has closed. The pizza is always delicious, the atmosphere is always chill, and the employees are always super friendly. Nothing beats coming out of a concert at Urban Lounge, walking down to Pie Hole, ordering a couple slices and a $1 PBR, and playing a few games of pinball. By the way, if you haven't tried their Thai Pizza on Tuesdays, DO IT.

This is the BEST place to get pizza! Whether you appreciate the flavor, the cost, or the warm attitudes from all the people that work there, you will leave happy and wanting to go back. My co-workers and I have known about Pie Hole for a little over a month and we have had it at least once a week. We have tried various pies, but the best ones that I would recommend are the Bird Dog or the Pretty, Pretty Princess. I haven't had any pizza that I wasn't happy with and really I have enjoyed just chatting a little bit with the awesome staff! Pie Hole is literally the best place to get a pizza. The only downside (which isn't bad if you're a planner) is that it sometimes can take awhile for your pizza around lunch time. Call ahead, or have them deliver if you're close! You will be happy you tried it!

This is easily one of the top "by the slice" pizza places in Salt Lake. As others have mentioned, the Potato Bacon is phenomenal. Depending on their slice of the day, you're in for a treat as well. The pizza isn't too greasy or cheesy like some other more popular SLC pizza places, and the slices are a good size for the price. The atmosphere is nice and laid back with pinball and arcade games around the restaurant to play. They are open until at least 2am every night as well, not something that many other restaurants around downtown can boast. Basically, when I'm up late and need a quick pizza fix, I go here.

Listen, this pizza is good. This last time we ordered, the customer service was well below average just to order. We ordered delivery and it took over 1 1/2 hours to our hotel and we are down the road. We called to see what was up and the dude showed no interest in finding the eta for the driver. I think the Pie Hole saved my life... Well, maybe not literally but for anyone that goes out all night drinking at the bars downtown needs some nosh before going to bed. I had never been to the Pie Hole before this and ended up getting a large pizza and the garlic bread to go. The staff is super friendly, especially with how many people were coming in and out. And to have to deal with a bunch of drunkards even says more about their friendliness. But besides the super friendly staff their pizza was incredibly. I loved that it was a thin crust and was fairly crunchy. Definitely give it a try!

To each their own... many people seemed happy here. Good people watching, friendly fast service but it has to be a pretty bad slice of pizza for me not to even want finish it when I'm hungry. Maybe my expectations were too high...I'm from the Northeast where it is very easy to find good pizza...but I simply did not like it at all. I had a traditional pepperoni slice and another that had red pepper on it. The slices were not freshly made...they were just sitting there frozen on the counter before being reheated, there was hardly any tomato sauce, the cheese was gummy and greasy, and worst of all, the crust tasted like soap. I was starving, I had half of each slice and couldn't finish the rest so threw them out and moved on. The highlight was that a can of PBR was only $1. So the whole experience was only $6.

I was instantly a fan of this place because it reminds me of my all-time favorite pizzeria, Momo's in Tallahassee, FL - there was punk music streaming through the speakers, the soda machine was covered in stickers, and a massive wall of PBR cans greeted you upon entering. The pizza selection itself was doable but nothing impressive. I enjoyed my veggie slice, my boyfriend liked the potato bacon variety, and the thin crust was great. This eatery stays open until the wee hours of the night, and I could totally see myself returning for a late-night slice. Overall, generally a thumbs up for a hole-in-the-wall spot serving pizza by-the-slice.

What a fun space! I love the graffiti murals, pinball machines, and artfully arranged stacks of beer cans. The Pie Hole is aptly named, but definitely my kind of place. Just beat the lunch rush today and my pizza was ready promptly. I ordered a slice of red pepper with basil and a slice of pepperoni. Both slices were pretty greasy and I would have liked the former to have more peppers, but overall both were crispy and delicious. With a drink and tax, my order was just over $7. This place has excellent daily specials, for example, on Mondays two slices and a drink are only $5. Additionally, PBR is $1 per can EVERY DAY. You could get day drunk on your lunch break (but probably don't)! The late night hours at The Pie Hole are awesome, making it a perfect stop on the way home from the bars or just to satisfy your late night cravings pretty much any night of the week. I'm not sure that The Pie Hole is my favorite place for slices, but it's definitely solid. Try it out!

This is one of those places where the hour and state of coherence that you are visiting in dictates your level of enjoyment. Day light = Hell no! Late night and/or buzzed = Hell yeah!! Low on cash = Hell why not? It's super divey and may not be the most clean place around, but the prices are right for some pretty decent pizza by the slice and bottle/can beer. The best thing is that they are one of the few places open late late and deliver late even if they are often late on delivery.

The only thing going for this place are its hours. The pizza is bad, I'd rather have chain pizza. The atmoshpere is okay but the restaurant just seems dirty. They try to get creative with their pizza and if you have to eat here I recommend one of these. Stay away and spend your money elsewhere.

The Pie Hole is a hole in the wall joint in the transitional part of downtown, between the businesses, and TRAX, of the west side, and the jovial lights on the other side of State street. So if you want to avoid the often avoidable Main street, and spend the money you saved, go here to spend less than expected and stay up later than most restaurants in a diurnal Salt Lake City. I walked away with a Uinta brew and two slices (potatoes bacon, and basil garlic) for under 6 dollars which is a feat to beat in what seems to be a race for the most expensive pizza in the state. Thin crusted, and unburdened by heavy, dense flavors, this pizza is simply, and decadently so. The Pie Hole receives five stars because it captures it's weekend-warrior, nocturnal nurse, and wanderlust couple audience with warm service, local flavor, and a price that allows the night to continue from there.

My first time visiting Salt Lake City, let alone Utah. I wasn't really sure what was good around the area so my friends trusted Yelp and went with Pie Hole. Very disappointing. We had two pizzas delivered to our hotel and they were late by an hour and a half. They also got our orders wrong. They also gave us no utensils for the salad. When we finally tried the pizza, they were alright. Overpriced and definitely had better pizza and service.

Who doesn't love a late nite skinny floppy greasy huge piece of pizza? Plus they really push the limits on toppings for the pizzas-- they always have some new and interesting. Potatoes and bacon? Yes they have it. JalapeÃ±os on most of their pizzas? Yes. Thank God someone knows what they are doing. Everyday they have a new different pizza so U better be going everyday to catch'm all. They've hired a bunch of hipsters-- which is awesome so they are chill and fun to talk to. The place is pretty rad with it's old arcade look and graffiti on the walls. The crowds here are usually high and drunk so be prepared to meet some very interesting people, or you can just watch them and be entertained. They are open late and it's cheap. So basically the deal is in the bag. BAM BABBY!!!

Poor Service and rude treatment. After 40 minutes I approached the manager and he treated me rudely. Bad experience. I will not return. The customers who want single slices get fast service. For your late night pizza needs, Pie Hole is the spot! There's always a line out the door if you're going between the hours of 1am-2am, but it moves really quickly so no worries. Most of their pizzas have been sitting out, so when you tell them which kind you'd like, they'll warm it up in the oven for you. There's often a selection of 3 or 4 special pies they offer which I enjoy trying on occasion, but my favorite is the potato bacon. There's no AC in the restaurant, so don't plan on sitting inside to eat in the summer.

My prayers have been answered. A late night food joint that won't break the bank. When I say late, I'm talking EVERY night: Sun-Thurs til 2am and Fri & Sat til 3am! Another great thing is that everything includes tax so the $2.50 slice is really $2.50! And if you're still looking for a deal, their 19" pie is triple the size of the chain place and the Pie Hole is still less than three of chain pizza. All these pros and I still haven't gotten to their pies. They run a good selection of slices both in the vegetarian and meat lover variety. One of their "always on the menu" is the potato bacon pie, yes, it is a must have if you like bacon. Their daily specials have great creativity like the bird dog or sal-or-rizo. The slices are big enough that you have to fold them in half to eat them. In addition to pies, they have salads, wings and cheese/garlic bread. They also have beer! Maybe one day they will have pie of the pastry type for those late night sugar cravings. (hint hint) This place is spot on for the price you pay for a quality product. They have great daily specials, discounts for students. Great atmosphere for lunch, pre/post bar/movie night. I can't wait for them to finish their back room.

Potato bacon. Yes. Anything with bacon. Thai chicken... so so. I was expecting a little more kick with the thai chicken but it was a little bland. I'll try pepperoni next time. $2.75 a slice is pretty good and the environment/staff are excellent. Very nice, not pressuring, and I love the PBR can pyramid. They take their pizzas and throw it in the oven to heat it up for you. I'm a little indifferent to it, it does make for the pizza to be a bit dry but I love the concept of pie hole and the environment is probably my favorite. Oh they also have a punch card for each slice you order. Love it.

Well here's the thing. If you live in SLC then you know that the whole city basically shuts down after PM. If you are coming from the bars or a late night show Pie Hole is the place to go if you are craving a good slice of pie. They have PBR for dollars and they have weekly specials on all their pizzas. Now would I eat there if I was ever sober probably not because there are plenty of other places that offer way better. But if everything is closed Pie hole will not treat you wrong. Its wayyyy better then going to a dirty roach coach or 24 Mexican place to go eat. I mean c'mon you would rather go to Denny's??? Didn't think so.

I love this place because they're big on garlic and have unique recipes. They're prices are great if your low on cash! Ordered two pizzas and two garlic cheese breadsticks late on a Saturday night for delivery. Order arrived at the short end of the time estimate (yeah, we were HUNGRY) - we were staying in the Radisson downtown, the delivery driver came right to our door. The breadsticks were great, essentially the dough from the pizza, cooked with the asked for toppings (garlic/cheese). If you like garlic, this is what you should get, served with dipping sauce. Really enjoyed these! The pizza was out of this world awesome! Thin crust, nice level of sauce (which wasn't too sweet and the right level of spice), toppings were adequate (not too much, not too little) and the cheese was nicely even and melted just right. The crust was cooked all the way with no soft/weak/doughy parts. Wish we had one like this back in Kansas city :( as it would be our new favorite pizza place.

I've been to Pie Hole a few times. My pizza was always really greasy. It looks think they wanted the place to look like a filthy sty and it does feel fairly gross to be in there. The prices are average lunch prices, they have different pizzas to try out (they experiment), and they are open late. There you will get a local experience rather than a chain, which is nice.

Unfortunately, I felt the best aspect of this restaurant were its hours of operation. There are several different types of pizzas that you can buy by the slice. I tried the potato-bacon, vegetarian, pepperoni, and their white pizza. All the varieties I tried were extremely bland, except for the pepperoni. Their signature potato-bacon pizza, could have used a lot more potato and bacon. The interior is decorated with funky paintings and loud music played in the background. You think they were competing with the club two doors down. Service was okay. The young lady taking my order was patient in explaining the pizzas of the day, but beyond taking your order and heating it up, there is not much interaction. So as stated earlier, it is a good place to go if you are craving pizza at 12 in the morning, but the pizza itself is not terribly special.

PRESENTATION: The decor was awesome, unique. TASTE: Okay I've never had pizza like this in a long long time. The New York style pizza was delicious everything came together on one pizza. I had something with potato on it and it was surprisingly fantastic. The closest thing to New York pizza I've tasted in Salt Lake. I haven't found a better pizza place yet and yes I have been looking! I love just about everything about the Pie Hole. The staff is always really friendly and helpful. They are quick to tell you about the different pizzas and the specials. I love the specials! Can you really say no to $1 beer? or two slices and a drink for $5? The pizza itself is quite tasty. I have had quite a few different kinds and the only one that I was disappointed with was the thai chicken. It was a little dry for my taste and I was hoping for a peanut sauce. The dryness could have been because it was later in the night. I love that they are open so late. It's exactly what downtown Salt Lake needed. There's nothing better than eating a tasty slice (or two) when you've been out all night with your friends. There's a certain charm about the paper plates with sharpie for signs, the PBR can towers, and creepy art on the walls.

So THIS is New York style pizza! Skinny and floppy, just like on TV and in the movies! I've never had anything, anywhere, that looks and acts exactly like what I think of when I think NYC pizza. I've never been to New York (yet), so I can't comment on the true authenticity, but it looks real to me. And the flavors here are excellent. I loved the potato bacon... and the bird dog (with bacon)... and the one with freshly sliced jalapenos and meatballs. The sauces were great, the toppings were fantastic and the crust was beautiful and super tasty. I love the pizza at the Piehole! The ambiance is very cool too. A little divey. A little underground. A bit hip, with lots of stickers and graffiti plastered all around. $1 PBR's is a beautiful thing! This is going to become one of my go-to spots for sure!

Pie Hole (Don't call it "The" Pie Hole within earshot of them!) rocks. I really like everything about this place. The questionable location sandwiched between a tattoo shop and a bar make this the ideal location for some serious slices of pie. The inside is definitely not for those seeking high-end ambiance. Black walls and stacks of emptied PBR's constitute the majority of the decor. Ryan, the owner, and his staff are serious about pizza. These guys make the dough from scratch and it shows in the final product. Nicely crisp and chewy makes for the perfect dough in my book, and these guys have it nailed. As has been said in other reviews, the potato bacon is my favorite, although their other slices, like the bird dog, are equally tasty. Every day they have a different special and different deals, so make sure to check them out! These guys are one of the few local downtown eateries open late every day of the week. And don't forget the Mrs. Pacman game in the back.

There is nothing like some pie hole to satisfy that late night munchies after a night of fun in downtown Salt Lake City. I recommend a slice of potato bacon and pepperoni! **On the flip side, if you're craving and decide to get it delivered, be warned that it might take a bit to get to you...1 hour and 15 minutes!

Oh man. I thought I liked pizza but after trying the pie hole's pizza. I love pizza! They take pizza to a different level, a place where anything can happen. My favorite has to be the bacon potato pizza, but the thai chicken is a close second. They always a vegetarian option which is awesome if you're married to a vegetarian. So if you haven't tried the pie hole, go try it now.

Open late? In Salt Lake City? And cheap? I'm there! The pizza here is NY style-ish, in that it has a thin, crispy crust. We ordered a few slices, and while the meatier slices had a good amount of topping per slice, for some reason the veggie ones had an anemic amount of veggie on them.

If you can get past the name and the slightly sketchy tattoo parlor/bar neighbors, the Pie Hole's pizza is really good. Granted, the business lunch crowd may be their second target audience behind the late night bar crowd but good food speaks to everyone right? Specials are written out on paper plates and $1 PBR is highlighted. Skip to the pizza which features high-end, quality and locally sourced ingredients. While you can order whole pies made any way you wish, if you want just a slice or two, you can choose from a variety including cheese ($2.25), pepperoni ($2.50), roasted red pepper and basil ($2.50), potato bacon ($2.75) and several slices of the day. All prices include tax.

1 dollar Pabst and open until like 2 AM. This place TRULY is like NY. They have all the pizzas cooked and displayed so all you have to do is point to the slices you want, and you get to see them. Then they take the slices and reheat them, which causes them to be slightly crunchy. I love this style of business soo much. I feel it's unique to Utah and people may actually NOT like that their food was actually cooked 2 hours ago. But growing up in NY that's how EVERY place does it and it's the CORRECT way God intended pizza to be served I tell you! This may beat out Este fo real!

A real dump that makes great, thin and crispy, NY style pizza! If I had of dropped anything on the floor, I would have left it or kicked it away and wrote it off as a loss. I also wouldn't take anyone here to impress them with culture. But, when I want me a slice o'pie and a beer it's my go-to hole-in-the-wall joint.

The pizza is divine. I loved tasting each piece we tried, from a traditional cheese and pepperoni to a special with artichoke hearts, sausage and red onions. We also had to taste that "famous" potato bacon. The "regulars" are good, but those daily specials looked quite enticing too. I like the paper plate, the atmosphere and the jokes from the guys behind the counter. With the cheap pizza and beer, I was feeling at home. Pizza that tastes like home? Even better. I'll be back, can't wait to try the other specials, and I'm looking forward to the day I can get my meat loving man to order the pepperoni, sausage, ham, bacon special - The Pretty, Pretty Princess.

I love this pizza. The thin crust with the extra side of grease is just what the cardiologist ordered. I really like their take on the originals as well as the staples. Me I love a good slice of pepperoni and a beer (hey you know I'm a simple man who is waging an ongoing war against his liver....and intestinal tract). The service is always helpful and smiling, the beer is cold and the pizza is like my wife (so hot it burn your mouth). The atmosphere is divey and I feel right at home here. They are open late and I have never been disappointed. So head down grab a slice and sit outside enjoy the blistering heat (it's a dry heat so you don't feel it as much) and just enjoy.

This place was too crowded, so we went to the Smoke Shop\Deli next door. It felt pretty weird to buy a sandwich from a bong shop, but the shawarma was EXCELLENT. I guess stoners do make the best food sometimes....

Yep, this pizza is good. The cheese and crust are amazing, which kind of makes or breaks pizza. Slices are $2.75- not very big and skimpy on most toppings (my chorizo and pepper slice literally had 6 less-than-pea-sized bits of chorizo and 2 pepper pieces on it, which is how the entire pie looked), but if you get two slices it's filling and still a decent price. The potato bacon is as good as everyone says, a must-try. Oh yeah and the $1 PBR complements nicely.

Looking for a cheap bite I stopped here when I saw $2.25 specialty slices for lunch. They had some creative and fun pies advertised and was excited to try something new. I got a slice Thai chicken with peanut sauce and potato hummus slice. It was so good! It was also HH so it was only $1.75 a slice and there were cheap beers as well. The decor was cool and the staff was friendly too. I ended up coming back for dinner. If your looking for a fun cheap unique bite this place is a sore dick - you can't beat it.

I like the atmosphere of the Pie Hole, but the pizza is not the best. The best i can describe the atmosphere is like a dive bar. I went there around 7pm and there was no pepperoni pizza. I had the Pig Roast pizza and a salami pizza pizza with peppers. It was a little dry. They do have good specials on pizza especially during lunch hours and for college students on Thursday night. I prefer Este Pizza for NYC style pizza in SLC, but I will likely return to the Pie Hole.

We found ourselves wandering the streets of downtown Salt Lake City on Christmas Eve night wondering where we were going to find something delightful to eat. We were about to settle for the-same-old Chinese food when someone had the bright (ha! pun intended!) idea to eat at The Pie Hole on 344 S. State St., Salt Lake City, Utah. Hallo! It's pizza by the slice, it's cheap, and they were even open until 3 AM. The food was delicious! We tried the cheese and basil/red roasted peppers with a side of garlic cheese breadsticks and it was a serious delight. The pizza crust was thin, but not soggy, and pretty darn flavorful. I'm kind of glad they sell by the slice because otherwise I would have eaten myself into an early Christmas coma. The staff was also super nice, instead of like my other experiences eating out on holidays where the staff seems to hate that you're making them work. So if you're ever wandering around the downtown Salt Lake area with an empty tummy and a few dollars in your pocket, do yourself a favor and get a slice (or four) at the Pie Hole.

I come here for the pepperoni and $1 dollar PBR. If you are bar hoping in downtown and get hungry - you can come here and eat. The atmosphere is cool and it feels just like a dive bar. This place has plenty of seating, just work your way towards the rear. I recently discovered that they have a pizza happy hour. It runs weekdays from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm. You can buy a slice and get one for free. There is no restrictions and you can try one or all of their combinations. I also recommend the pesto pizza - it is very tasty and delicious. I will definitely start coming here more often.

I really want to love Pie Hole. I may have a fundamental flaw in that I'm just not a pizza fanatic, or it could be that I know nothing about pizza. That being said, I like what I like and I felt pretty indifferent about this place. I mean, I love the concept of having pizza by the slice, I love that they are open late just about all the time, and I also love that their environment is unpretentious and what a pizza place should feel like. But. I did not like that my pizza's crust was super burnt. In order for me to "fold" my pizza in half, I had to crack it and make a pizza sandwich. The cheese had been sitting out for a very long time and was pretty rubbery. And while I love a greasy pizza, I'm not so much a fan of it when there's a ton of it dripping onto my plate. I just didn't have an enjoyable eating experience. I will say that the flavor of the potato bacon was surprisingly good. I may come back and request a freshly made pizza of that to redeem my experience here, also, I'm curious what a bird dog is.

I have heard from so many people that Pie Hole is the place to go, so I went. Actually the pizza is really good. I had the Pozer and the Potato Bacon and the flavors and crust are great. It is a nice thin pizza that does a great job of filling you up. I have always liked this location downtown. Yes parking sucks but for a good pizza in the heart of SLC, thiss can't be beat. I think Este edges this out for me but only barely.

After a few not so great slices of pizza here in Utah... I was afraid I would have to deal with ho-hum pizzerias in the beehive. That is SO not the case. The Pie hole isn't that much to look at, but what good pizza place really is? It stays open late too, so if you find yourself hungry and wandering around downtown past 10pm... for WHATEVER reason, pull out your smart phone and map yourself right into this place!

This place was recommended by my VegNews e-newsletter & since I happened to be in town, thought I'd check it out. Went around 6:30pm on a weeknight & the vibe was a bit "downtown" (as in interesting....but that's how I like my pizza places so it was perfect for me!) Tried: The vegan slice - highly recommend! Tons of veggies, could have used more red sauce but it was yummy. The roasted red tomatoes & basil slice - I was hoping for more but it was edible. Somehow the red toms weren't as flavorful as expected. Salad - so good! What seemed like all veggies in the place & generous croutons piled on lettuce & served with vinaigrette on the side. The croutons got a bit soggy when I left them in the dressing which made them all that much better. Had leftovers for the next day too. Overall, a big thumbs up. You can even watch them throw pizzas in the window overlooking the street. Plenty of seating, video games, and beer options to wash down the yummy slices. Friendly service, too.

One day, I ate here three times. I have prepared a list of things I adore and appreciate about Pie Hole. The first time I ate here, I decided I wanted to pretty much move in. These guys are not trying to be the cool kids, they are just naturally rad. Lunch for less than 8 bucks. The pizza is fantastic. The thin crust allows for fold-in-half-ification which I've always liked because then it's like you have a pizza sandwich and I just feel like that's a really fun idea. Cans of the greatest beer ever (PBR) are a dollar, and there are castles in the rafters built out of empty cans. The people working are friendly and cute. The signs are the result of magic marker fun-time on paper plates. There are 80s arcade games in the back. Weekend late night = pretty great people watching on the sidewalk. I think that if there was one way to improve, it would be to figure out some sort of dessert pizza. Even if it was only served on special occasions. I like treats. I'm never going to go to that other New York style pizza place in SLC that starts with an E again if I can help it.

This is one of the best pizza joints in SLC for a lot of the reasons stated by earlier reviewers. It's thin crust and tasty. I like it better than Este as the crust is thin but actually has taste. It's best to eat the pizza fresh there or as take out. It doesn't reheat well the day after.

I like that they have rotating specials each day and I can't eat there without getting the bacon potato. I recently discovered I live within their delivery zone, which means my waistline will soon be in SERIOUS trouble. The only downside to Pie Hole is no parking lot. Everything else is awesome.

There's no other pizza place in SLC like this. You just gotta go and check it out. I've been to Pie Hole several times now and I sort of love the place for the ambiance, the people, and definitely the food. First, the ambiance. Snugly set between a lounge and a tattoo parlor, Pie Hole fits right in. Enter and you're greeted by a line of paper plates taped to the counter that tell you all about the pizza, their specials, or anything else you need to know about. The walls, although initially painted with bright colors, are slowly transforming into graffiti art murals. There are two distinct areas of the dining space -a front area with tables and chairs, and the back room with second-hand booths, a counter top and bar stool setup, a small couch and chair corner, a pinball machine, and that coy classic arcade game, Ms. Pac-Man. Rumor has it they're on the lookout for another '80s video game. For the love of Punky Brewster and all things Lionel Richie let's hope it's Asteroids, Centipede, or Frogger. Under dim lights a massive stack of empty PBR cans reaches up to the ceiling from atop the wall separating the two dining areas while below the wall and fountain drink machine are both peppered with stickers representing bands and brands both local and national. Come as you are. Kick back. Welcome to Pie Hole. The people of Pie Hole are what make the whole thing work. What might usually make for a dark, depressing, or dirty place to dine actually becomes like the house of the kid with the cool parents. You know that kid. You come over, his folks buy you a pizza, let you listen to some music, and then leave you be to play some video games. That's the staff, a rad bunch of people who genuinely love running a pizza place in downtown SLC. A little hipster? Ya. Does that make me love it even more? Uh-huh. Finally, the food. I'm a fan. With such a focus on ambiance you might expect run-of-the-mill pizza. No sir. This is thin-crust pizza where they make their dough by hand every day. You can watch the dough magic happen in the front window if you pass by during the post lunch hours. There are several pizza combos on their always menu as well as daily specials. They make up a bunch of pizza beforehand and then throw your slice in the oven which really gives a nice crunch to the crust and achieves something that once-cooked pizza can't get. It's different, but it's delightful. Potato-bacon? Yessir. Bird dog? That dog can hunt. It's the kind of menu you can explore to find your fave flave. It's not olive-oil brushed artichoke hearts and truffles. If you come here looking for a fine epicurean tasting adventure then you clearly, clearly don't get the point. But there's room in Utah for all kinds of pizza creations and definitely room for a thin, double-bake, hipster-baked pie. Choose from plenty of drink options including the popular dollar PBRs. And it's a late night post-bar dream; they're open until 2am on weekdays and 3am on the weekends. Pick you poison, grab seat inside or out (new picnic tables just in time for warmer weather), play a game of Ms. Pac-Man, and enjoy one of Salt Lake's more unique pizza purveyors.

Like a little slice of heaven in your mouth!! Between the delicious thin crust and unique slices changing every day you won't find a better pizza joint in SLC. Super fresh toppings and really tasty cheese! I love the pesto sauce, but even the traditional red sauce is amazing. It's so nice to be able to buy by the slice and they are open late so its very convenient to stop by after being out on the town with friends. Basically I heart this place. The service is always excellent, very down to earth and friendly people that work there. A few people have mentioned the delivery time being a bit slow...well yeah, that's because they make everything fresh! This isn't a fast food drive thru! Well worth the wait in my opinion.

Their selection varies by day, but they always have the standard cheese and pepperoni, as well as their Potato Bacon pizza which is surprisingly good. It is a pizza I would want to reheat and eat for breakfast. My favorite part about Pie Hole is their late hours. They are open til 2 am on the weeknights (unheard of in SLC) and 3 am on weekends. Restaurants that cater to the drunk crowd have a special spot in my heart. I can now add pizza to my list of drunken late night eats.

After tasting the pizza at our awesome 80's event, I was super excited to go back and re-experience Pie Hole as a restaurant. These guys have only been open since New Years but this does not feel like a 'new' place. It feels comfortable, settled, experienced, like the joint that has been the local hangout forever. One of the coolest things they have going for them is their hours. It's pretty hard to find a restaurant late at night in UT. And while these guys do offer drinks, it still feels like a food joint and not a bar. With interesting graffiti-ish wall art and concrete floors, tables in the front room, booths in the back, it's a 'hole in the wall' ambiance, but without the dark seediness. Also, the perfectly cooked, creative flavored thin crust pizza slices are just the right amount of food for a late night excursion. I tried a veggie italiano this time: green peppers, pepperoncinis and red onions. The tangy spice of those bright green peppers was the perfect kick to compliment the rest of the flavors. I also had to steal a few bites of potato bacon from the husband, because it was one of my favorites at the event. The owners and employees are so nice and just seemed happy to have the group of us there for as long as we cared to kick it. It's a fun place to hang out, perhaps after an outing, as in our case or, as a primary destination.

Decent NY style pizza. I won't get into the argument about authenticity, because I'm pretty sure I lived in NY for a few years eating pizza that wasn't authentic enough for some yelpers. Monday's offer the "Back to Work" special of 2 slices and a soda for $5. I had one slice that had pesto and garlic and was sufficiently smelly. It was good and I'd order it again. My other slice was plain old pepperoni. It was super greasy. On the plus side I haven't had to moisturize my skin all week. Who am I kidding? I'd probably order that again too. All in all this is a divey pizza place thats open late. It offers cheap, handmade pizza. This is going into my lunch rotation.

Shut your Pie Hole and Chew! (should be their tagline) Love this place! Had a fantastic lunch with my buddy Hang who had been making me want to pay Pie Hole a visit for weeks. Potato and Bacon pizza. How could you not love it? Well, it's possible at other places, but here it is done well. The saltiness is perfect and delicious. And, look Ma! I'm eating vegetables on my pizza! I also ordered the Machismo which was a special of the day. Crumbled chorizo, cilantro, black olives, and red sauce. It was also good (I pick off the olives - so picky!). Crust is great at this place. They toss the slices in the oven after you pick them out to crisp them up and make them uber delish - I love this. All the greats do it in NYC and I'm happy to see a few local places catch on. Decor is also fun. I just love that it's laid back and a cool hang out. Can't love the hours enough. Late night craving? They're open until 2 - on the weekDAYS! 3 on the weekends. Sweet. It was delicious enough that I am giving myself an hour and a half break and then going back for happy hour (3-4 pm) when they offer two slices for 3.50. Yeah baby! Potato and Bacon goodness.

Not only is this true east coast pizza, it is much more. Not often can one find real thin crust pizza west of Pennsylvania, but the Pie Hole delivers! I had the traditional peperoni with a cold Coke-a-cola in a glass bottle and I felt like I was back in NYC. The ingredients seem very high quality, and also that the slices haven't been sitting out all night. Also contributing to the NYC feel, was that I was served at 10:30 pm on a Thursday, an anomaly in Salt Lake which is not known for it's late night dining opportunities. As long as you don't mind hipsters serving your pie, I recommend this pie above all I've had in Salt Lake, and especially after hours!

I'll start by saying that I generally avoid pizza. Cheap mozzarella, thick doughy crust, and enough grease to drown a small child... this is what pizza usually amounts to, unless you want to spend a small fortune at a gourmet pizzeria. Pie Hole, however, has changed this however... much to the dismay of my belt. In the interest of keeping this review digestibly short, I'll just say that the toppings are of great quality and variety and are a fabulous price. No more will I have to choose between money or quality. Sure, Pie Hole has classic bad-for-you pizza, but it's truly good. They don't use cheap mozzarella, or skimp on toppings, or only carry the basics. Pie Hole will give you a great "gourmet" pizza without the fuss and without the expense of comparable places. Being in the neighborhood of many bars, a trax station, and being open until 3 AM on the weekends, I see this place becoming quite the hotspot downtown in the near future. Frankly, with Pie Hole around now, The Pie is going to have to up its game (or get a clue, more like it in my opinion) if it wants to hold its pizza-monopoly on the college crowd. P.S. The delivery guy just got here, so I thought I'd just add that he was super friendly and the pizza rocks yet again!

The pizza at the Pie Hole is not very good, but to be fair, it is not entirely their fault. Its a fundamental flaw in the pizza by the slice model. Reheated pizza that has been sitting at room temperature for who knows how long will never achieve pizza greatness. The vegetables get sad and wilted, the meats and cheese get rubbery and the grease migrates down into the crust creating a slimy grease sponge. Yes there are places in New York that have pizza just like this, just not the great places in New York. Pizza by the slice is fine for a rushed lunch or a post drinking grease fix but not much else. Now for the part that the Pie Hole should have done better about. My pizza was AMAZINGLY greasy. The grease seeped through my crust AND my plate to leave a giant puddle of disgusting oil on my table. It was revolting! Also I do not think there was any sauce on my pizza, either they forgot it or it got washed away in a torrent of grease. The final insult was the shot glass they gave me for water. I even asked for a larger water cup and they refused to accommodate me. The women behind the counter was nice enough... when she was there. She left the counter unattended for long stretches of time and I saw more than one person simply stand and wait for her to come back to help them.

I've visited Pie Hole a number of times and have always been very satisfied, but my last trip has been just that, my last. I witnessed one of the employees throwing food at the customers and yelling profanity at them. When they went up to confront the employee they were all being ganged up on by the entire staff. It definitely was not professional and I have not and will not recommend this place ever.

Really, really good NY style pizza. Zesty, spicy, acidic thin crust pizza dripping with goodness. They have a rotating stock of slices available. They do seem to have a veggie option every day. I really want to know what the Heavy Metal Pizza is. Anyways. Great place, cheap and good beers. Whats not to love?

From Bum's to Beamer's, everyone shows up at the Pie Hole apres-bar because it does one thing right...good cheap pizza, including vegetarian options, and $1 PBR.

This is as close as you're going to get to a good quality eastern seaboard pizza joint in Salt Lake City. They service the classic and a constantly rotating variety of specials which means you always have a surprise when you show up. The prices are good and the atmosphere is super casual. No complaints here!

first, let me preface this with the fact that i am vegan, so i am only reviewing the vegan pizzas that i've had. plus: they have vegan slices on tues & sun love the crust! minus: they seem to repeat the same vegan slices often. i have gone in 4 times (both on tues and sun) and have yet to see their vegan thai chicken. i would like more variety in the vegan slice day dept. i haven't had their cheese. apparently, they make their own. i'm eager to find a vegan slice day where they have something other than hummus or red sauce and a few veggies.

Open till last call. That in itself warrants a good rating. The Pie hole has good pizza and low prices. While I would say I have had better Pizza it wasn't this cheap, at this price this isn't just good pizza, it's great pizza. They have a decent selection of beer including alot of deals for cheap beer and pizza combos. Plus in addition to some of the more common pizzas they also have plenty of unique and vegetarian blends. It's pretty obvious that this pace is geared to the college and night crowd; and if that isn't enough to convince you there is also the great graffiti decor inside to send the point home (check the flames over the oven!) This isn't a date place, it's not a place where you plan your afternoon around it. But when you're in the city with your friends and you want some good quick food this will quickly become your go-to pizza joint.

I had the pesto slice and pepperoni and peppers slice, with a drink, for $5. The pizza was good - better than Este, which is down the street and around the corner on 200 South (although Este's garlic knots cannot be beat). I liked the vibe of the place - it reminded me of a college-town pizza-by-the-slice place, like the ones I frequented when I went to school in Berkeley, CA. Don't be fooled by its looks - a lot of business professionals in ties and business casual were patronizing the place the day I went. I wish that there were a really good, locally-owned, "thick crust" pizza-by-the-slice place downtown. Not really relevant to this review, because I liked Pie Hole's take on the thin slice, but I'm just venting.

This is a no frills pizza place that serves a good pizza by-the-slice and a decent price. If you are looking for a late-night east coast slice this is your place. There are a few bars on the same block so this makes a nice booze and eat combo.

Awesome pizza! This place offers a ton of topping options and the slices are HUGE! Loved every kind i tried (even the one with jalapenos!). I tried them when i was at the yelp event and these guys brought a pac man arcade game with them...awesome!

Huge thin-crust pizzas that they have pre-made sitting on the counter and they heat up for you by the slice. They also have a large selection of pizzas you can order. The place is a bit dive-y, but it works. They are also open very late.

Vegan Tuesdays! So dangerous to have such an excellent pizza shop so close to work... especially one that has veg options, and is so unpretentious. Love the location, love the staff, love the divey atmosphere. And, did I mention I love the pizza? So much better than Este, better options & flavors, and way friendlier & down to earth staffers.

I happened to go with friends on a Tuesday and it happened to be the day they serve a vegan pizza! EXCELLENT. It was thin crust and fabulous and the price wasn't bad. I really liked it. The beer was cheap too. My only reason it doesn't have a fifth star is that a vegan pizza isn't fresh made with the others daily! Not everyone eats cheese, although you can assume that most people that enter a pizza shop do I suppose. But it was nice to have the vegan cheese free option and my non vegan friend had a piece too and enjoyed it. Why not make one everyday? Good pizza joint though, I'd go there again.

This place was good. The sausage and other ingredients were fresh and good quality. The slices are large. The pie huge. The imported and domestic beer selection was decent although not large. They had several local beers available. The staff was friendly. We like that it is a dive and it's super casual. They have arcade games and play hard music so that's good too. I expect we'll be going back again and again.

My husband and I love the pie hole. Great pizza with lots of options and there to please the customer! So good we are regulars! Lots of topping and a huge thin crust pie what more could you want. Plus by the slice can be very convenient if you don't want/need a massive pie.

LOVE Pie Hole! Granted I always have 'drunk munchies' when I call at 2:00am for delivery, but it is always delicious! Friday night (well, really Saturday morning) I ordered a pepperoni, spicy chorizo, jalapeno and mushroom pie... gaaaah, so good! The woman on the phone was very nice and double checked that she heard the order right, as it was very loud in the restaurant, and the delivery boy was a sweetie, also. The slices are huge- the most excellent fold in half kind! I encourage everyone to call Pie Hole for their late night food craving... or daytime craving, for those non-restaurant industry (or non-vampire) folk.

Stopped here for a quick bite for lunch. Their unique flavor combinations were fantastic! Plus, have never seen Diet Mountain Dew available in the fountain drinks, but there is was. Price was very good. Only sorry I was there for lunch, as it looked like a great place to enjoy a late night slice as well!

Ok... So I went on this Bachelor party that consisted of me and a group of friends bar-hopping to local bars int he downtown area. One of the stops was at a new bar called Graphitti. Next door to this par happens to be one of the best pizza slices I ever had. I tried the peperoni and the fiery Hawaiian which was a Hawaiian Pizza with Jalapenos, both were pretty dang tasty. They are open til 3am on weekends so if you need a Late Night Slice, hit up this Joint!

Not the most fulfilling slice of pizza I've ever had (which you can attribute to their NYC thin crust style of pizza) but I will give them an A for flavor. I had their basil and roasted red pepper pizza and it was very yummy. Just be ready to eat a few slices to get your fill if you have an appetite like mine!!

it's too bad they have themselves listed as one of the very few places that delivers late at night in downtown SLC because they will just treat any delivery order you make after 11:30pm as a joke and you won't get food until you call BIG DADDY'S PIZZA to make you real pizza. not prank call pizza. NO STARS! maybe if i had a hipster moustace i would matter to them.

Let's be honest this isn't the gourmet pizzeria that you might be looking for. However, when you're a little hung over and it's one in the morning it's the best place to get potato and bacon pie. Pros-inexpensive pizza but still taste good. Cons-grungy atmosphere and questionable sanitation/quality. It always tastes good while the sun is down.
